1200 calories is 500 over budget for me?

I understand that the budget is hard to understand. I would wish that the Fitbit app told me the total of what I'm allowed to intake on my meal plan. But looking at yesterday, it tells me 1200 calories (kcal) is 500 over my budget, that gives me, a woman early 30s, working out 3xweek, weighing 74kgs an allowed daily intake of 700 calories? This is just insane. I did not wear my watch yesterday (which coincidentally is the first day of me trying the food functionality, because of reasons), and I did not track any workout manually in the app. But anything below 1200 calories is considered unsafe. Does the app not take into account basal metabolic rate (the caloric cost of "just existing")?  I have connected the Aria2 to my profile, so this should be a simple calculation as I weigh myself morning and evening, and all the factors should be accessible through my account data pool. My BMR would be around 1400, and suggesting a 700 calorie daily intake means all my muscle mass would rapidly deteriorate, and is touching into ED territory. 

Please tell me I misunderstand the app terribly, because this makes me sick to my stomach. With everything going on over at "that clock app", I hope this is not another tool that promotes ED in young humans.

Just a thought @NinaMargrethe 

If you didn't wear your fitbit yesterday, then fitbit will only be looking at your BMR. 

To figure out your calorie input (food) fitbit looks at 

  • Your activity
  • Calories burnt
  • Calories consumed 
  • Your wwight loss plan. 

For weightloss plan 

  • Starting weight 
  • Weight goal
  • How soon you want to reach your goal.
