The app on my Apple phone continually shows I have 98 messages & when I open it there are none…no messages & no notifications.

Hello @LaurenCastle and welcome to the Community.  I apologize if I am misreading your post, but I believe you are saying you have a badge icon on your Fitbit app icon on your phone's home screen.  Users have been experiencing this on and off.  They get that badge icon, but don't have any messages.  Please try the following:  Go to your iPhone Settings > Notifications > Make sure that Badges is toggled to Off.  I don't have Badges turned on for many apps.  iOS updates can turn them on.  Mine are off for Fitbit and my update to iOS 15.6 turned them back on.  I have no idea where the 98 comes from.
