Longtime lurker, first time poster.....
As stated, I'm not sure that "All-Day Sync" is working on my Fitbit Charge. Whenever I open up the Fitbit App, even if its late in the day, at first it shows me that my current steps are 0, but then it begins to sync. After about 30 seconds, it shows me all my steps and updates the number of steps in my friends list. Also, when I log onto the fitbit site, it tells me the date and time of the last sync, and it conincides with the last time the app was opened. Right now, it's 3PM and I have 4,058 steps according to my fitbit. On the website, it says I have 2000 steps and the last sync was at 10:40 AM.
Shouldn't turning on All-Day Sync actually enable it to sync periodically w/o me having to open the app? I have an iPhone 6, and every setting that I can think of is enabled to let it do this. In the Fitbit App, I have Location Services on, as well as background app refresh, "use cellular data," etc. Has anyone experienced this problem? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Has this issue been resolved? I'm having the same issue. All Day Sync is selected through my iOS Fitbit app and it only syncs when I open the app and a lot of times have to pull down or refresh it.

I am also having this issue. All Day Sync worked flawlessly with my android but since switching the iphone 7 plus I have to open the app for it to sync.

Also having this problem. Shouldn't the all day sync prompt my Fitbit and phone to sync periodically without me opening the app? Using iOS on iPhone 7.

Same issue here. iPhone 6s. Only syncs when I open the app. All settings are correct and I've also previously done a reset on the Fitbit (Charge 2).

Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I am in a weekly challenge and several of us complain about this same issue. I have had a Samsung until recently got an Iphone and it never syncs unless I open the app.

I also have same problem. Getting really fed up with Fitbit now. So many people have the same problems, some for weeks and yet no help or advise to resolve.

I have the same problem. Worked fine on Android. Only works on iPhone when I open the app. Really causes problems when my Noom app reads my steps from the Fitbit app and if I don't open Fitbit for a few days, noom thinks I'm not doing anything and keeps lowering my step goal.

experiencing the same on Android 9 on a Nokia 9. Issue appeared to start after the major app revision a couple months ago.
