Hello @TrudiK, I hope you're having a great day, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community! Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Have you tried to restart your Alta HR and your phone lately? If so, I would like to suggest you check the following:

  • Make sure you have a strong WiFi signal
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the syncing process.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone (through your phone settings) for 15 seconds, then turn it back and try to sync.

If your tracker is still not syncing correctly, my best recommendation would be setting up your tracker as a new device to reset the connection between your iPhone and your tracker. Don't worry, none of the information already stored in your account won't be deleted.

To set up your tracker as a new device:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  4. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  5. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else! Smiley Wink

I am also having this problem and it wasn’t fixed by doing what you said. My iPhone X can’t recognize my Fitbit. There seems to be something wrong with the Bluetooth signal.

Best Answer

I'm experiencing the same problem since this morning. Now I tried setting it up as a new device, but it is stuck at Connecting to Tracker... after saying We found your tracker!

I'm not sure what to do next.

Hi I hope you have got your issue sorted out now. Funnily enough after I had posted in the community my Fitbit synced and had been ok ever since. I definitely thought it was an issue with IOS not the Fitbit.

turned off and on bluetooth, restarted phone, deleted app. still nothing. unpaired device etc etc etc.  After 30 or so minutes trying variety of things can sometimes get to work....for a day or two.  Then process starts all over again.  Not very impressed with this product.

Hello @pedrosglobe and @t1989, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention; tell me, which tracker are you currently using? Have you restarted it yet? If so, I would like to suggest you to check the following:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  • Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone again.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it one more time.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Hi Margo G.  THank you for the prompt response.  I have a new Alta HR with the latest app downloaded on my iphone.  I only have one other bluetooth device, a speaker, which is only on while listening to music, and has never been on in the morning when I try for 30 minutes to sync my fitbit.

In the morning when I wake up I turn on my phone, wifi, bluetooth and then try and sync.  Usually the Fitbit app says bluetooth is off.  So I turn it on and off until the app registers.  Then I just get the "looking" indication.  After about 15 mintues of this, I have to turn off my phone, take off my fitbit and connect it to the computer and restart everything.

I followed your instructions on re-installing the fitbit and it worked.  But then the next morning the device is not recognised again.

It seems like thorughout the night while my bluetooth and phone are off that the memory of this device is lost.

I have tried everything below that you have indicated.

regards,

P

Hello @pedrosglobe and @t1989, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Robot Happy

I appreciate you have tried the troubleshooting steps I've provided earlier. At this moment I would like to suggest you to set up your Fitbit device as a new device to reset the connection between the phone and the Fitbit device. Don't worry, none of the information already stored in your account will be deleted.

To set up your tracker as a new device:

  1. Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around that might interfere with the setup process.
  2. Make sure your tracker's battery is not low.
  3. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  5. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  6. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  7. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

I have done all of these steps multiple times and no luck.  My Fitbit tracks my steps but the time is off so it’s not tracking in real time and not updating in the dashboard

I started having this issue when I upgraded my iPhone 7 to an iPhone XS. I also read online that a lot of users with iPhone X or later models are experiencing this. Not sure if that is related, but I still didn't find a solution yet. I'm about to give up honestly.

Hello @kamallypos thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that the latest iPhone models are already listed as compatible devices and you should be able to sync your Alta HR with them. Now, if you have already tried the troubleshooting steps listed above and you're still having issues, my best recommendation would be setting up your Alta HR as a new device to reset the connection between the device and your phone. Note that none of the information already synced to your account will be deleted by this process.

To set up your Alta HR as a new device:

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let us know the outcome.

Hi @MarcoGFitbit,

Thank you for your response. I tried that but the app is not able to detect my Fitbit at all when adding a new device. I also tried to connect my Fitbit Alta HR by Bluetooth to my girlfriend's iPhone 6, it's not working either.

The problem is that I have a 4 am alarm that I've scheduled last week and now it is repeating every Thursday. I need a way to sync this Fitbit... but nothing seems to work.
