Alta display and notification question

I just bought the Alta. I sure seem to have to do lots of tapping and sharp movements to get the display to come up. Then anything that shows up on the display disappears before I can read it. Is this right??? Also...when a text comes it, it says the name and a few words of the text...not the whole text message. Is that right??? Frustrated!

Let me help you out, I recommend checking this great post  that my friend @ErickFitbit shared that will help you to interact with your Alta, also let me explain you that when you receive a text message it will show you the name of the contact and a part of text.
