If you force sync your Alta, does this behavior still occur? You can force sync your tracker if you click the account button in the bottom right-hand corner > click the tracker tile at the top of the page > and then click the "Sync Now" button at the bottom of the page.
Also, does the same behavior occur on your Fitbit.com account?
