Alta notifications not working on iPhone 8 with iOS 11.2.1

My phone is new. I paired my Alta through the app. Notifications aren’t working for calls, texts, calendar, yet all are turned on. I have “forgotten” the Alta on the Bluetooth screen, restarted my phone, repaired and turned on all day synch. Any other ideas?

Hello @tangi67, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have shared your experience with us and for letting me know you have already tried the troubleshooting steps provided earlier. If you're only missing text Notifications on your Alta, I would like to suggest you to go to your phone Settings > Notifications > Messages and make sure the following is enabled:

  • Allow Notifications
  • Show on Lock Screen
  • Show in History.

If these options are already enabled, disable them, restart your phone and enable them back. Then, open the Fitbit app and sync your Alta once again.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

Hello @CRL88, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks for letting me know the steps you have tried in order to try to resolve this issue, at this moment I would like to suggest you to restart your Alta and your phone, then follow these steps:

- Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove Alta from the paired devices once again.

- Force-close the Fitbit app by double tapping the home button on your phone and swiping up the app.

- Open the app again and tap on Account > Alta > Notifications. You will receive the following Pop-up:

- Then, once you tap on Set Up, the app will begin setting up your tracker with the Bluetooth on your phone, which will prompt the next pop-up:

- Tap Pair

- Once you get back to the Alta Options, tap on Notifications an enable the ones you'd like to receive.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else. Smiley Wink

I have the same problem with my Alta and a new phone (IPhone 6S). I had a 5S before and everything worked great, but since I upgraded, the tracker works for steps, but no notifications for calls or texts. I spent the evening reading the forum and tried all the suggestions I could find, still doesn’t work. I’m pretty desperate!

Hi there! Thanks for the reply. I did that, and all my notifications are on for both Messages and Fitbit apps. Everything’s green. I also deleted the app, reinstalled it, rebooted the Gitbit, rebooted the phone. Disabled and readabled Bluetooth, deleted Alta from Fitbit and added it again, turned the notifications off and back on again - still nothing. I do get my calendar updates, but no text or call notifications.

I appreciate you have taken the time to share your experience with us and for having tried all the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier. Tell me, have you restarted your Alta already? If so, I would like to suggest you to set it up as a new device to reset the connection between your phone and your tracker. Don't worry, none of the information already stored in your account will be deleted.

To set up your tracker as a new device:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  4. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  5. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.
  6. Go to Account > Alta > Notifications and enable them again.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I followed these steps and it FINALLY worked! Actually, I removed the Alta Device in the app, rather than replaced it.
