Fitbit app crashes on iPhone 12

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Today I went to open the app like I do every day on my IPhone 12 and instantly the app crashed. I have restarted my phone multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled it. The app and phone are updated. I have tried reopening it, turning location services on and off. Nothing is working.

Is it just me or my device?

I am at a loss.

Hello @Clocke1

Looks like you have tried all the typical troubleshooting steps to address your Fitbit App crashing including making sure your iPhone and Fitbit app is indeed updated. Look here to make sure your current phone is compatible: https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/compatible-devices It states:

  • Apple iOS 13.4 or higher
  • Android 10 or higher

If you recently updated to the new 3.59, which I did this morning all I can currently tell you is that it states “bug fixes and performance improvements” ….. the update before that was the 3.58 which was release on April 20, 2022 it states “To use this version of the Fitbit app, your phone must be running iOS 14+“  You can look here:https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2025.htm?Highlight=App%20crashes. If you still can’t open your Fitbit App without it crashing I would contact Fitbit Customer Service. You can contact them here: https://myhelp.fitbit.com/s/support?language=en_US

😃I hope I was able to at least point you in the right direction and customer support can sort your issue out. Please keep me posted on how it goes

Update: This seems to be a growing issue with Fitbit App crashing with iOS users. Please see this thread here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Fitbit-app-keeps-crashing-on-iOS-devices/m-p/5125902#M158078

As of this morning I've joined this issue. Interesting it happens to different people at various times and not with a specific update. I love my fitbit sense but the fact the app is crashing since May 11 and a fix has not be deployed is surprising.

I haven't been able to open the app on my iPhone today at all.  It crashes every time.  The phone and app are both up to date.

Hi, @elaldinger, you need to be running IOS14 or newer on your phone. I suggest you go into the Fitbit app in the app tray on your phone, force stop, clear the cache and check that any battery-saving function is disabled for the Fitbit app. This last is because some phones treat the Fitbit app as non-essential and put it to sleep.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Hello @RileyHoran and @elaldinger

Try these steps if the steps provided by @Gr4ndp4 still leave you with Fitbit App crashes. Open your Bluetooth on your mobile device, tap the name of your Fitbit Tracker then tap forget this device. Now uninstall the Fitbit App, restart your mobile device then reinstall the Fitbit App. Log into the Fitbit App then swipe down to attempt to sync your Fitbit tracker. You should be asked to pair your device. Accept the pairing.
😉 I hope that works out for you. Please let me know

I tried all of these and it didn't work right after I did the steps. Then the next afternoon it started working. So I'm operational but don't know why waiting 15 hours after I tried this and other suggestions it would start working. Regardless...works now.
