Hello @Purim, let me start by giving you a warm welcome to our Community. It been a few days since you brought this to our attention and I wonder how it goes so far?

If the app is crashing, my first recommendation is to review if you are running the latest version of the app which is 2.27.1. To know this is very easy:

  1. Tap the Account tab.
  2. Tap Help. You'll see the app version at the top of the screen.

If you have this version already, my next recommendation is to force quit the app:

1. Double tap the home button on your iOS device. Your open apps will show on your device's screen.
2. Close the Fitbit app by swiping the app image in an upward motion.
3. Reopen the Fitbit app.

Hope this helps, otherwise keep me posted. I'll be around if you need more help.

I'm on version 2.28 and it still crashes. I can't get it to sync.

Hi there @CricketKing, welcome aboard to our Community. If you updated the app recently to 2.28, have you tried to force quit the app as I recommended before?

In some scenarios might be require to do this process after the update. Although there are reports of the app is crashing, on the new iOS firmware version 10. But rest assure our team is working on a solution, so is possible that in the future we have more updates for the app.

If you are not able to sync, please try the steps of the following post: Syncing troubleshoot for iOS devices.

Let me know how it goes, I'll be around if you have more questions.

Yes, I've tried everything, including restarting my phone and reopening the app.

Nothing is working. Nothing.

@CricketKing thanks for the update and for troubleshooting this issue with beforehand! Seems like you've exhausted all troubleshooting steps. In this case, I recommend contacting our Support Team and report this situation to them. They definitely have the proper tools to take a deeper look into your tracker's behavior.

Good luck and keep me posted! Cat Wink

I'm in the same situation.

IPhone 6 on iOS 10.1.1
Fitbit app 2.29(611)

Have tried manually restarting the app, restarting the device etc. No matter what the app crashes after. The green sync status bar never gets to half way across the screen.

This is really annoying. And it makes the device useless 😕

@MistakeNot welcome to the forums! Have you tried restarting your tracker? That usually does the trick. Also, try restarting your Bluetooth and your iPhone. Good luck and keep me posted!

Hi my fitbit/app is doing the same thing

It has been crashing for so long I haven't been able to use my fitbit since last year - every time I see an update on my phone for the fitbit app I continue to try and reconnect my fitbit but to no avail.

I am using an iPhone 6 and not having the ability to count steps because the date/ time is out of sync is pretty sad considering I paid full price for it and its basically collecting dust

I have tried all the above options and still not working, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app also, any chance there has been a recent quick fix?

Cheers,

Ali

I too have an issue with my surge. It was just one day, now it's days behind. I work out of state so each time my surge dies, I cannot get home to connect to computer to charge it until the end of the week, by then its lost more time. I've been trying to sync but my app keeps closing soon after I open it. I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions listed here in replies and other forums. Now my divorce won't connect at all, let alone sync. Totally bummed because I do a lot of walking during the week and really miss tracking my steps.

@AliC94 thanks for stopping by and for bringing this up to my attention! I appreciate you went through some troubleshooting beforehand. Have you checked that your iOS has been updated to its latest version as well? Do let me know!

Also, if possible could you please attach a screenshot if the app gives you any type of error message? Thanks a million. Hope to hear back from you pretty soon!

@Marcy1987 welcome aboard! That definitely doesn't sound like expected behavior. I suggest attempting to uninstall and reinstall your Fitbit app once again and let me know how it goes! Smiley Wink

I'm having a similar problem with my old iPad running iOS 9.3.5.  It looks like (from the App Store) I am running version 2.39 of the Fitbit App. Starting about a week ago the Fitbit App user interface started crashing.  Sometimes when it opens and sometimes during the sync.  The reason I say the UI is crashing is because I can use a four finger sweep and I still see the App.  If selected it crashes again.  It's an older iPad so I don't have the option of updating the iOS.

A warm welcome to our new friend @Bytemaster! Please review the list of supported mobile devices and verify if your iPad is compatible.

The latest version of the Fitbit app is 2.40. It was released on September 11, 2017. There were some bugs fixed and we also made stability improvements. Make sure you're running your Fitbit app latest version to ensure a smooth interaction.

To update the Fitbit app for iOS to a newer version do the following:

  1. On your iOS device, tap App Store.
  2. Tap the Updates tab.
  3. If a Fitbit update is available, you'll see Fitbit in the list of pending updates.
  4. Tap Update.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Hello everyone,

my app crashes on my iPhone 6S (IOS 11.01)  Fitbit app version 2.41..when accepting a friend request. It doesn’t happen with every one only spontaneous. Does anyone else have this problem? I have redownloaded the app again and that hasn’t fixed the problem. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Got my wife the iphone(iOS 11) today and when I restored from back up the fitbit app won’t work. It launches and crashes instantaneously. I’ve restarted, rebooted, resetted and even tried to do the restore a few times and get the same result every time. I tried to search an ideal solution on Google. luckily I found that and hmm second workaround was worked for me in listed the thread of to fix App crashing iOS 11. Thanks. Now, I am enjoying fitbit and connected device reliably without any problems.

After about 2 years, just today Fitbit app kept crashing during sync with message app was stopping. I tried everything here, and it didn't work. I finally completely uninstalled the Fitbit app and reinstalled on Android phone. That WORKED! Surprised Support didn't suggest this.
