App is very slow when logging food

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Recently the app has intermittently been very slow and laggy when I'm logging a food item.  When the three-tabbed view for frequent/recent/custom foods appears, it's frozen for a while and won't scroll, then when it does and you select an item there is a delay before the item appears, and so on -- every interaction with the app is sticky and slow.

I only see one other report of this recently in the Android forum.  Is anyone else having trouble?

App is extremely slow on my iPhone 6.  It’s almost to the point of uselessness.
WiFi is fine, I have reininitiated the app...still slow, can’t find food items, adds in foods I haven’t selected then I have to slowly delete.   Can’t believe I put up with it...

I agree. It seems to have got worse since it has become bloated with recipes and other add-ons. Time to switch?

It certainly has got worse. Will be moving away from Fitbit next time, for sure.

I’ve also had random extra foods added. Then it’s very slow when you try to delete them - even slower than normal. It’s getting harder and harder to find a reason to stay with Fitbit.

This issue has yet to be fixed. You sell a device but do not fix supporting features! Perhaps it is time to go somewhere else.

Everything installed is the latest version on app & IOS for Versa 2 as of 4-10-21. Unlimited data plan.

I have the same problem and nothing has fixed the issue so far. Found out that you can track food in the MyFitnessPal app and sync it to Fitbit app. This is working very well for me. The sync between apps is really fast. It doesn’t fix the problem but a work around if you want to have you food logged in Fitbit app quickly.

Same problem here on my iPhone. Except it is also glitching and adding additional foods into my log that I didn’t add myself. It takes forever to go back and delete them all. I’m close to just stopping using this app for food tracking

Thanks for this info. I have to say I'd rather FitBit made the effort to fix their app! Having to use another app to replace features that FitBit supposedly offers says it all. The FitBit app needs urgent attention because if I am forced to use another app for logging food then I might as well move away from FitBit completely next time I buy a device. @krs320I agree, it means you can't trust the figures in the app at all without constantly checking everything you have logged to see if extra items have been added. Sometimes it's good all day and then in the evening suddenly I'm over my calories for the day, then I look back through the day and see that an item for one of the meals has been duplicated. Also, when I'm adding foods (some days I will plan my eating from the start of the day) it's really annoying when the macro totals constantly change. One minute it's correct and all looks good, then while I am looking at it they go up, down, up again, very high, back to low....it can take a very long time to settle down and even then later when I'm not looking it could all have changed again. I like having all my data in one place and I do not want to use another app, as has been suggested, for food logging. I want a simple 1 stop shop that on the face of it FitBit offers. I really don't understand why it's so hard for what amounts to a database to run seamlessly. Please FitBit get your act together.

FitBit Moderators, I have not seen a response from FitBit on this thread recently. Does there need to be a new topic as this one seems to be being ignored now?

I was using myfitnesspal but it was too much hassle maintaining data in two apps, so going back would defeat the purpose fir me. Thanks.

Agree. When I bought this product, the app was part of it. I hate it when corporations have a hands off approach to support and expect customers to just fix their own problems via these forums.

Four years later and they still haven’t fixed this bug! Pathetic.

@ADave Gotta be the longest running joke about Fitbit (that isn't funny)

@MarcoGFitbit this thread started in 2017…the same issues are still being experienced by many users. Is FitBit ever going to fix the app? Or should we all give up and switch brands? I genuinely want to know if Fitbit has any intention of addressing this issues and the many, many others in these forums. Not much seems to happen other than new features being added now and then, while the core issues are still not fixed. Waiting 10 minutes to log a new food is totally unacceptable!

I have an 8plus running 14.7.1 and if I search for a new food it sometimes takes hours before it pulls up the info on it to log. Sometimes never loads, been waiting now for 40 minutes to log a chorizo skillet!

1) IPhone 8 user here;

2) iOS 14.8.1, no updates needed, plenty of space available and excellent wifi

3) Fitbit 3.50 (1076)

Having the same exact problem. Sometimes it literally takes a full 3 minutes to add a food item. I've been a Fitbit customer for years, but seeing as they ignore the customer and this problem has existed for years, I think it's time to move to Apple Watch.

Experiencing the same problems on my iPhone—and yes, I logged out, force-closed, and cycled my phone off, etc.  After seeing the the date on this post and years of follow ups, I am giving my food data to some other brand. Too bad, because I liked a lot of the Fitbit features and having calories integrated with activity data.

Same here. Mine just started doing it this week. It makes it difficult to keep track of intake without without writing it down. Kind of defeats the purpose. Please fix.
