I recently updated my iPhone to ios13. Since then I get asked to change my choice for location services “only when app is open” to “always on”. I select “no thanks”, the next time I open or switch to the Fitbit app, it asks me the same thing again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...(You get the picture). How do I get the app to remember my choice like it used to?

I don't want to set location services to "always" because it drains my phone battery and it is unnecessary. I have been with Fitbit for over 10 years now, i have had issues with Fitbit over the past few years, this will certainly be be my last fitbit product.

Uninstall and reinstalling the app worked for me.

I just uninstalled/reinstalled the app.
Went for a quick walk using the app to track and it didn’t spam me with a request to always allow tracking. Confirmed that my settings have it set to only use while in the app.
I will have to keep testing next time I run but fingers crossed it’s actually fixed.

Yep that’s exactly what happened to me. After weeks of that horribly aggravating message it finally went away. But a couple of days ago I accidentally started an exercise. Now the message is back every time i open the app. I hate this. If I want my exercise tracked I use my garmin or cycling computer. Fitbit must be making a calculated decision with this or they would fix it.

If enabled try disabling auto-recognition of any exercises.

Hi Lizzy,
In the last two years have you discovered a solution? I'd sure like to know it.

Just wanted to post a message about this issue, this still hasn't been resolved... I also don't want the app to know my location, unless I'm taking an extra long walk or so.

That’s a good point Hannah, from a safety perspective it’s not good that your location could be leaked.

This is super obnoxious. I get this notification every time I open my app. I don’t want my location turned to always. It kills my battery. I have it set to while using. That should be enough. I did these steps and it won’t stop. I guess it’s time for an Apple Watch. This is too annoying.

That doesn’t work. If it did, I don’t think anyone would be asking the question…

Ok, it’s been two years now. Any answers? Seriously, if I can’t shut this off I’m going to smash this Fitbit in a vise and buy something that works. It’s infuriating

I woke up this morning 2 years later. And the problem is not gone.

I agree with you. There should be a don’t ask me again option. It’s incredibly frustrating to continually get that pop up. I don’t want my location services on always using. I’ve always had a Fitbit but maybe it’s time to switch to an Apple Watch since Fitbit doesn’t seem interested in correcting this issue.

Just inherited my wife's Charge 4 as she got a Luxe. I guess she's been dealing with this without complaint.
This is ridiculous. No means no. Don't make us keep pressing a button to use the product we bought.

I got mine to go away by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I’m on iOS 15 with Fitbit version 3.51. My location services is set to only while using the app. I’ve even tried starting a workout with tracking and haven’t had the issue pop up again.

Gave that a shot (delete/reinstall) and seems to be working for the last few days! (iPhoneSE 15.1 w/Fitbit Charge 4)

IOS 15.1, Iphone 11 pro Fitbit 3.51. Uninstalling (deleting) the app and re-installing seemed to work last night until I selected walk exercise this morning and the fitbit charge 4 won't connect. This used to be cured by simply opening the app. No longer sadly - again, the warning about location and I had to set BT to "always allow" to get it to work. Now, I sure wish someone would fix this.
