App problems for over a year

Didn't bother searching to see if this has been reported. I've been seeing wacky behavior like this for over a year now.

1. This morning the app sync'd steps and everything seemed fine. It was a rest day and only had 1500 steps or so.

2. After lunch and I see this... app has been sync'd multiple times this morning. What????

3.  Back to normal:

4. Gone wacky on me again:

5. Force a sync, and 4 seconds later its back to normal:

It's nice to see you around the Community @bbarrera! I'm very sorry to hear about the inconveniences you've been with your Fitbit app.

Are you doing a force sync every time you sync?

In the meantime, please try doing the following:

  • Make sure that your Fitbit App is up-to-date
  • Log out of your Fitbit App
  • Force quit the App
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit App

Let me know how it goes after following the above!

@MarreFitbit No, I don't force a sync everytime. Usually the Fitbit app will sync on its own. The latest in-app dashboard on iOS even shows the sync in progress.

I've done all of the things you mentioned, many, many times over the last 12 months. Phone OS and Fitbit app are always up-to-date.

Thanks for confirming this to me @bbarrera. So my best suggestion would be to get in touch with Customer Support directly so they can do a deeper investigation into this and see where the issue is coming from.

Don't forget to mention the steps you've done so far to avoid getting the same ones. You'll be in good hands!

Good luck!

For completeness, wanted you to know that I did the procedure (again) last night. This morning everything was ok until just now. Pulled out iPhone, switched to Fitbit app, it briefly showed 12,000 steps (say 12,315), the sync icon started rotating in top nav bar, then step count dropped to something like 8375 steps. I rubber banded the dashboard to force another sync, and then it updated to 12,715 steps.
