Apple Watch and Fitbit.

My wife has a relatively new Apple Watch; however she wants to continue syncing her steps to the Fitbit app so that she can see her position on the Fitbit leader-board relative to her friends.  I am using the Synch Solver app on her iPhone to synch the data from the iOS Health app to Fitbit and the numbers are fairly close:

Date iPhone FitBit
11/27/2018            11,940            10,636
11/26/2018              8,172              7,982
11/25/2018              9,991              9,831
11/24/2018              8,342              5,116
11/23/2018              3,187              3,204
11/22/2018            11,771            11,774
11/21/2018            16,940            16,935

However, the big problem is that the Fitbit app is not accurately totaling the data in the leader-board with her friends.  For the above data, she showed a total steps of 34,223 for the week.  My understanding is that is supposed to be a rolling total of the current day plus the previous (6) days.  For the above data, that should total to 65,478.

Any idea of why the data does not match exactly and why it is not totaling correctly?

Thanks for your help...

On the fitbit leaderboard, only steps that were directly tracked by a fitbit tracker count towards the friends tile totals although they are included in the dashboard step count. Any steps from manually logged activities or 3rd party apps (so as the one you are using) are excluded. These steps also do not count towards badges or other competitions.

It's thought that fitbit do this to deter would-be cheaters in competitions

Hello @ChuckC3, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. It's nice to see you too @SteveH, thanks for all your help. Smiley Happy

@ChuckC3, please note that as @SteveH mentioned, steps from manually logged activities do not count toward challenges; only steps recorded by your Fitbit tracker or MobileTrack are counted toward challenges.

I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Is there no way to wear an apple watch but still have the leaderboard challenge through fitbit?!

Hello @HuwOhri000 have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. 😄

I appreciate you have taken the time to post your question. Note that even when the data from an Apple Watch can't sync with Fitbit and its challenges, if you're using an iPhone you can set up MobileTrack in your Fitbit Account.

MobileTrack uses the sensors on your phone to track steps and other basic information. These steps will count towards challenges and adventures.

Give MobileTrack a try and let us know in case you have any other doubt or concern. Happy stepping!

So, instead of offering this runaround answer, just come out and say it properly: the answer is no.

Hello @RPatterson thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to welcome new members to the Fitbit Community.

I appreciate you have joined us and provided your feedback about this situation. Please note that I was trying to provide an alternative to count steps towards challenges as it's not possible to sync information coming from an Apple Watch.

I understand your concern about this situation but at this moment, our team doesn't have plans to release this feature. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs. For now, our team will leave this suggestion open for votes (and closed to comments) so that we can continue to track community demand over time.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes. If there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

It would be nice for the steps recorded with the apple watch to be included just as they are with a fitbit tracker. Dont punish those of us that need more out of our fitness tracker than JUST fitness, hence the surge of apple watch users.

there is an apple health app to fitbit sync and that STILL does not solve the problem of being able to compete. If you will take steps from the mobile track why not the health app to Fitbit? There is a HUGE demand for it!

NOPE! It really stinks too!!! Oh well... now i am convincing all of my friends to get an apple watch so we can compete with each other one again. 🙂 just about everyone in my family has now made the switch!

I agree with RPatterson.

Thanks for welcoming us to the chat Marco G but, ‘NO’ is indeed the answer, not all that other jazz you put in there like iceberg lettuce filling up a taco.  We want to clearly communicate that we want to use our Apple WATCH for tracking and not our phones.  We don't want Fitbit devices because purchasing those devices would be overkill.  Can you see people with an Apple watch and an Ionic on one or both wrists?  That’s just nonsense.  I didn’t get an Apple Watch to have my phone track my fitness.  Well anyway, because of this non-sense, I switched to Strava.  That’s right folks.  Strava.  Google it.  It works with Apple Watch.  I’m done with Fitbit.

I agree with those who are angry that Fitbit does not allow Apple Watch metrics to sync with the Fitbit app for challenges. It’s sad that you can sync data from the iPhone using MobileTrack, but not from the Apple Watch using Apple Health.

I absolutely do not recommend the ionic. It is the stupidest excuse for a “smart” watch. It doesn’t do anything special for that inflated price and I’m incredibly disappointed in the product. I thought it would get less clunky and that they would update and add more features as they worked out the kinks what with it being their first smart watch. Honestly I wish I could get a refund because it’s certainly not a smartwatch. And here I am this week wearing both the Apple Watch and the ionic and looking like an idiot just so that I can compete with my friends. The Apple Watch is great. I never would have switched if Fitbit actually listened to what we wanted, but now I’m glad I did because I have everything I want out of it ...except for the community. Fitbit got greedy and stopped listening. They’re going to lose a lot of customers. 2 years of a thread open regarding a Spotify app for Fitbit rather than having to use the apps they partner with. Well I’m not buying pandora premium or Deezer. And Fitbit never addresses anything. 2 years of silence from Fitbit on the topic. I’m convinced they don’t care at all...
