Auto tracked walks not showing distance covered

Dear Fitbit support Team,
My wife and I just found that our Fitbit Charge HR devices can automatically log activities such as long walks, which is fantastic. However we saw that such entries in the activity log do not show up the distance covered even though the app has correctly identified the activity as "walk" ("Camminata", in Italian).

Is this a bug or perhaps it is supposed to work like his by design?

In addition, we noticed that sometimes our devices work different in these circumstances, that is: walking together for a long while results in my device logging the activity automatically, while hers does not.

Thank you in advance for your help!!

@DerrickS I have found that SmartTrack does log the distance in your daily records, so, should your post read "doesn't display but records distance".

Here is are two examples after creating an Activity recoord for each..

Hi @RobertoE,

SmartTrack currently doesn't log distance. If you want to record distance on your walks I'd recommend either:

  • Logging a MobileRun using your phone's GPS.
  • Hold the button on the side of the Charge HR to create a workout annotation and then recategorize the workout to an ambulatory workout such as walk or run.

To answer your second question, users are able to create time thresholds for SmartTrack. For instance, on my personal settings my Charge HR doesn't automatically log a walk until it recognizes that I've walked 15  minutes.

You can edit these time thresholds by: clicking the account button in the bottom right-hand corner of the app > Click the exercise button under the Goals section > make time adjustments to auto recognized exercises > and then sync your tracker for the changes to take effect.

Let me know if you need any additional assistance!
