Average sleep time not appearing

I’m fighting insomnia, and some random “Sleep Score” means nothing to me. I’d really like to know my average sleep time for the week. Please add it back as an option. Thanks.

Hi @EmX7. I'm glad to see a new face around.

Thanks for sharing your feedback about the sleep scores. I understand how important is this data for you and I'm sorry about this experience. Our team often reviews the Community to evaluate and improve our devices and overall environment based on your comments. While there isn't an option to disable sleep scores, you can still see the average sleep time for the week in the Fitbit app. Just tap on the sleep tile, and swipe from right to left until you're on "Hours in Sleep Stages" screen. Then tap on the full screen icon and it'll show your average sleep details.

See you around.

The “Sleep Score” is garbage. Now I can’t see how long I had REM sleep?  Word of advice: keep things simple. Introducing some new “Sleep Score” and having to define it and introduce the concept to people is folly. REM & Deep Sleep are universal entities. Sleep Score is not.

Honestly, I never would’ve bought this Fitbit if I knew the app was going to evolve (or devolve) into this hackneyed format for sleep tracking. I really miss the “Up Band.” They got it right i.e. “tracking graphics” and didn’t mess with what worked. Maybe “Sleep Scores” work for mattress companies, but in this context they are a FAIL. Implement ideas that feel organic or evolutionary, not borrowed from another one.

Also, from a visually aesthetic perspective, the “Sleep Score” is dull. In this age of Data Analytics and tech innovations, a ball with a number on it with some text under it is flat and not very dynamic.

You have a nice product and do a good job with it overall. Don’t diminish it with unnecessary changes.

Thanks for this!

Agree that the steps it takes a user to find this information is too long vs seeing it as soon as you tap the sleep tile.  Average time slept for the week is more useful to user than 'sleep score' in my opinion.

Sleep score is not helpful to many of us.  And having to swipe through 2-3 screens to just see my average for the week isn't helpful. Not sure why Fitbit decided sleep score was a preferred data point for users, but based on the user feedback, seems to have been a function miss.

If they don't want to get rid of sleep score, then suggest they give us the true option of what shows up on the first sleep page and on the dashboard and not arbitrarily pick for us which to show.

Thanks

Thank you Lizzy. I think we’d prefer the choice of sleep score and average sleep. In a heartbeat I’d switch back to average sleep. We’re all busy people and swiping back, opening dials is a sub par solution. Can’t fitbit app developers give users the option to choose average sleep first as overview information, and the sleep score can be put to the back where they’ve currently put average sleep?

I’ve been a loyal user of fitbit since 2015, but since this update and subsequent obdurance of fitbit,  I’m actively looking round for a replacement, it seems the sleep score is just a cheap ripoff of Withings devices...

Lizzy, your reply suggests that you don’t understand how serious this is for people who bought their fitbit in order to track their sleep.  We need someone at fitbit to take this downgrade seriously, or we will be researching non-fitbit product replacements.

I bought the fitbit because I have insomnia, and need to see how much sleep I’m getting.  Before the screen redesign was pushed out, I could see the weekly hours and minutes averages.  At a glance, I could see how many minutes I was gaining or losing over time.  The “sleep score” analog is so coarse (compared with hours and minutes) that it is literally useless.

A further annoyance is the redesign of the dashboard screen.  The one number I need is no longer in the bottom right corner, it’s off the screen.  I have to scroll to see it, and I can’t edit its placement. Having to tap multiple times instead of once, to see the sleep quality screen is another pointless and annoying change.

WHY DO THAT?  Instead of patting us on the head and telling us we’ll get used to it, you should be bumping these comments up to developers to enable users to arrange the screen to suit US, and to get the data we used to get on our sleep.

This is the kind of condescending disregard that drives customers to other products.

This is by far the worst Fitbit  update!

Sorry for our experience!?!?!! We are not looking for apology.  You should have done your research before applying these nonsense updates. Sleep hours is very important for majority. I on the other hand bought fitbit only for the sleep hours, so that I can manage my sleep. Now I have a useless fitbit device and an useless app! Garbage!

Btw, The new app home screen is so bad, who ever approved it should enroll at a UI design school.

It looks as if “functionality” was not a consideration in the re-design.  I figured out how to get sleep time back on the dashboard: remove everything else.  Ridiculous, but it works.  Of course, if you WANTED to see anything else, you have to decide: anything else or sleep time.
