I've been trying to keep on top of my calorie intake and originally was able to scan barcodes and enter food directly. Lately however everything I scan is not in the database, is the database really that patchy that relatively common items aren't in it? Or is there a problem recently with the iOS app?

Hello @Mawdrigen, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community, it's nice to have you on board.
Please note that at this time, barcode scanning is only available for customers using the US food database. If you have chosen a non-US food database, you'll see the barcode scanning option but it won't work. To check which food database you're using, complete these steps:
If you scan an item that isn't in our food database, you'll see the option to submit it as an addition.
I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hello @Mawdrigen, thanks for taking the time to reply, I hope you're having a great day.
At this moment I don't have an specific timeframe for when this feature will be available outside the US, I understand your concern and I would like to encourage you check @Claire22 suggested idea to implement this feature in the near future. This is the best way to make your voice heard and get the attention of our development team.
I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.
