I upgraded form my Blaze to an ionic, as the email notifications for my Gmail kept stopping on the Blaze. however, the same keeps happening on the Ionic - they are OK for maybe 30 minutes, then stop.
I have restarted the Ionic many times, reinstalled the app, re-synched etc., but nothing works.

Hello @FarleyUK, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
Are you trying to receive Notifications from the email app on your phone or from the Gmail app? If it's the first, let's try to reset Notifications in the app by following these steps:
- Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and tap on Ionic. Then tap on Forget this Device.
- Force-close the Fitbit app by double tapping the home button on your phone and swiping up the app.
- Open the app again and tap on Account > Ionic > Notifications. You will receive the following Pop-up:
- Then, once you tap on Set Up, the app will begin setting up your tracker with the Bluetooth on your phone, which will prompt the next pop-up:
- Tap Pair
- Once you get back to the Ionic Options, tap on Notifications an enable email again.
Now, if your issue is related to the Gmail app, please remember that in order to receive App Notifications your phone should receive one notification from that specific app before it's available on the App Notification list. If you're already able to see Gmail on App Notifications and it's currently enabled please disable it, force-quit the app again and enable it back.
I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.
