I reported this almost a year ago… the dashboard showing how many calories left is a different number than when you go to “Cals in vs out” pagd, which says I’m over when the dashboard says I’m not. When I look the next day, it seems the calories left reported on the dashboard page is correct, but I don’t know what to believe is actually the truth. Trying to lose weight here.

@Ctrygirl The cal in/out (over/under) takes your target deficit and pro-rates it linearly over the course of the day. If you designate a 500 calorie deficit the app starts at 0 deficit at midnight, and looks for 250 calories at noon and then 500 calories at midnight. The app calculates the over/under number based on your calorie intake and expenditure AT THE TIME YOU LOOK AT IT. The number can shift quite a bit if you look before and after a meal or before and after a workout.
The cal left to consume looks at your average expenditure for the rest of the day (based on your history) and then estimates how much more you will use up the rest of the day and then calculates how much more you can eat to be within your deficit. This number can shift if you change your pattern of expenditure - for example if you normally exercise in the evening and then don't do it one day.
Suggest you be aware of what you will be doing that day and take all those numbers into consideration.

@wtksk8r thank you for taking the time to respond. However I think my inquire might have been misunderstood. I have never had this problem prior to last year. Typically, the number of calories left for the day reflects the same on both the dashboard and when you physically do to the page to input food for the day. A Fitbit user should be able to know exactly where they stand at any time of the day as both pages should reflect the same amount of calories left. The 2 pages have the same number of calories in, what wouldn’t the calories left be the same on the 2 pages as well throughout the day? It’s confusing for anyone trying to los weight since we don’t know which page is accurate.
