I just got a new Fitbit and just took it out of the box and set it up. As for the app, I created an account yesterday. Yet, it already has recorded my calories burned weeks before I had even decided to download the app or get the Fitbit. Can someone explain this to me?

Hello @Soyn16,
Welcome to the community!
Fitbit tracks two types of calorie burns. First, calories burned from activities (like walking, running, etc.), this is pretty self-explanatory. Second, Fitbit also tracks your BMR, which are the calories that you burn by just breathing and being alive. Your BMR is based on your stats, like your gender, age, weight, and height.
The long history of caloric burn that you're seeing is your BMR. Even if you did nothing but sleep all day, you'd still be burning at least that many calories.
I hope this helps.
