It's worth checking your settings for height, weight, age etc as these factor in the calculations:

What might be causing confusion is that fitbit tracks calories burned through activity and your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep) and because they are calculated from your profile settings you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. @Rossco.m as @SteveH mentioned, Fitbit trackers counts calories based on your BMR additionally to the ones you burn through normal exercise and sometimes they can be up to half of the total calories for the day. Keep in mind that if you have a tracker with a heart rate monitor, your heart rate can also influence on your BMR calories.
