Can’t activate camera’s flash

After updating to iOS 13.1.3, the option to activate my phone’s (iPhone SE) camera flash to scan food bar codes is not working. No action occurs when I “click” the “flash” option.

Any news on the inability to use iPhone light when scanning barcodes?  I had great loyalty to Fitbit’s great customer service, but now that it was morphed into Google. I am already seeing a slide into the Google trough where everyone is fed the same slop.

Only a message stating that they are still investigating this issue. I don’t think that it is a top priority to Fitbit, considering that when I reported the problem it appeared that some at Fitbit didn’t even know that this feature existed. It doesn’t seem to be a problem that takes long to resolve, but is has. I think that their resources and energy are focused elsewhere right now (unfortunately).

We are coming up on 3 months for this being an issue and are not hearing any resolutions. The flash function for barcode scanning is needed. I used it frequently in the AM. What is the status on the fix?

It’s unfortunate to see how long this has been outstanding and how little feedback Fitbit provides, especially since this a fix to an existing feature. It has given me pause and made reconsider upgrading my Fitbit tracker and getting a Fitbit scale. I’m concerned of making an investment in devices that will have such little response when they malfunction.

Agreed. I messaged support via Twitter, and again, they acted like they had no clue that this feature even existed. They had me make sure I wasn't talking about the flashlight for my phone. 🙄 I had to send them a screenshot indicating the button to which I was referring. Then, they gave me the standard reply, "Thanks for reporting this. We'll make sure to pass this on our team for investigation. Should you have any other concerns, please let us know." Translation: We will continue to do nothing about this issue.

Frustrating.

No, and unfortunately I don’t think they care.

Finally, after two years, Fitbit fixed this. The camera flash can be activated by clicking the flash icon on the top right banner of the screen, as it was intended. Not sure which software update solved this, but I noticed that it works again a few weeks ago.

It's about time, but it's too little, too late. The software functionality was so poor, along with the substandard equipment, when Apple released a cheaper version of their watch, I said goodbye and never looked back.
