Can’t change hours in hourly activity

Hi,

When I change the hours from 5am-7pm to 7am-9pm then, press “set goal” and “done”, nothing happens. The hours still remain at 5am-7pm. I tried many times over many days, force closing the app, restarting my phone but, the problem persists. Anyone else have the same problem or a solution? Please help 🙏🏽

Fitbit app version 4.43, Inspire 3, iPhone 16, iOS version 18.5

Thank you for reading.

Hi there, @Françoise.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and sharing the steps that you've tried so far. Let's work on this together. Just to confirm, are you having the same experience with other settings? Or is this only affecting the reminders to move?

While you've tried troubleshooting the app, let me suggest trying to uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app on your phone as a last resort. Please give it a try and then check if you can adjust the time range to track your Hourly Goal Activity.

Hi, I have had the same issue as well. I’ve tried restarting my phone, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and I’ve done every type of troubleshooting I could find on the internet, but nothing worked. Very frustrating

I have the exact same problem.  I have an iPhone 15 (iOS 18.4.1) and a Charge 6 (Version 20001.214.24).

I have repeatedly deleted and reinstalled the Fitbit app on my phone.  I have repeatedly done “Restart Device” on my Fitbit.

There are a weirdly large number of ways to supposedly change the Reminders to Move hours, and none of them works:

1. Click on Fitbit icon in upper left and choose “Charge 6.”  Click on “Reminders to Move” (which is toggled to “on” but behaves the same way when toggled to “off”).  Hours say it’s set to remind me between 10 am and 7 pm.  *Click* on “Start Time: 10 am” and . . . it takes me to a page that says the start time is set to ***9 am***, which is the time I actually want.  Internally celebrate that it seems to have accepted the change; click “Set Goal”; and . . . I’m back on the page that has the on/off toggle, and it still says 10 am to 7 pm.

2.  Click on “You” icon in lower right of iPhone screen.  Choose “Activity.”  Here, it already says 9 am - 7 pm; yay . . . except that this has no effect on the way #1 above works, and it also doesn’t affect the hours on my actual Fitbit.

3.  Click on profile photo in upper right of iPhone screen.  Choose “Fitbit Settings.”  Under “Preferences,” choose “Activity.”  Here, again, it says the pertinent hours are 9 am to 7 pm — but this has no effect on my Fitbit (no matter how often I synchronize it), which remains stuck on 10 am to 7 pm.

4. Click on “Today” icon in lower left of iPhone screen.  Scroll down to “Activity” and click on “Hourly activity.”  This shows a graph showing that I’ve successfully completed all my “10 am to 7 pm” hours.  If I click on the gear icon at the top right of this page, it show me that my hours are set to 10 am to 7 pm.  Here, I can adjust the start time to 9 am and click on “set goal.”  HERE, THINGS GET REALLY WEIRD:  When I click “set goal” here, it takes me back to the page that shows my set hours:  10 am to 7 pm, ugh.  I click “Done”; it takes me back to the graph showing successful completion of the 10 am to 7 pm hours.  Fine, I give up and hit “back” . . . and now the “Hourly Activity” hours on my “Today” page are set to . . .  ***9 am to 6 pm***!!!  Not 9-7, 9-6!  And then if I click on that 9-6 range, it takes me back to the graph, which still says my hours are 10 am to 7 pm.

A good question might be “why are there four separate ways to change the hours for Reminders to Move?,” but the more pressing question right now is “why do none of them work?”

THANK YOU if you can save me further time trying to figure this out for myself.  I am totally disheartened by my formerly beloved Fitbit.

Hi Lizzie,

Thank you for responding. As far as I know, this is the only feature that’s affected. I did as you suggested and uninstalled then reinstalled the app but, the problem persists.

Hi there, @Gretchencita and @Françoise@aafsk8er Welcome on board.

Thanks for the additional information, and every step that you've tried on your own. I understand how frustrating this can be and I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. I'd like to share with you that our team recently released a new update for the Fitbit app. These updates help us to improve the performance of the Fitbit app, and for this reason, please check the App Store and make sure to install it.

Then, reboot your phone and try adjusting the hours for the reminders to move one more time to see how it goes afterward.

Hi,

I had the same problem for a couple of months (couldn't change the range of active hours). I restarted and reinstalled multiple times on multiple days. Was told (via chat) to wait for the update end of May and reinstall. Just read your response and tried again (uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled). This time, I get a message that I have never seen in years of having a Fitbit: "Something went wrong. Unable to load your goals. Close."  So.

Welcome to the forums, @Gardener2.

Thanks for sharing the steps that you've done so far, as well as your efforts in contacting our Support team via chat. I'm sorry the issue persists, and just to confirm, could you check if the Fitbit app is updated to the 4.45 version? I'm asking this as this version is the one containing the fix for this issue.

If not, please make sure to install it and keep me posted on the outcome.

I have an Inspire3. It has not offered an update, so I have uninstalled and reinstalled and restarted yesterday (and just now, having received your message). Both yesterday and today (just now) the version when I reinstall directly from the Apple App Store is 20001.214.24. As there is no other way to update that I can see (no message to update in my account or on my Fitbit, which is how I have usually gotten updates) other than uninstalling and installing, I am flummoxed.  I still get the "Something went wrong message" and this time, having just uninstalled and installed, all my active hours for today are mixed up on the main summary page. (I had 13 active hours from 6-8, now it shows only 8 hours.)  So it is going from bad to worse.  Definitely not fixed.

Hi, @LizzyFitbit .  I just upgraded the app to version 4.46, and it is still not working right with my Charge 6.  Thanks, if you can tell the Google folks to keep working on this one.

Hi I’m also having trouble changing the hours on mine. But mine just keeps saying something went wrong. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and it hasn’t helped. I have a Versa Lite. Not sure what else to try.

Hi @Olivia1551.   There are three paths to set your hours.  Here are two other paths:

  • Tap on the You icon in the lower right of your Fitbit app, then Activity in the Goals section.  Scroll down to Hourly activity and see if you can change them there.
  • Tap on your device/battery icon in the upper left of your Fitbit app, then your Versa Lite Tile.  Scroll down to Fitbit reminders & alert and tap on it.  Tap on Reminders to move and change the hours there.

I recently had an issue where I couldn't change mine hours on the path you showed in your screenshot or my first option.  It worked on my second option, but it took 3 or 4 tries.

Oh, very clever!

I never even thought to look to see if there was another way to change the hours. The device/battery icon works for me (takes two tries as it always did the other way).  Very good.  Mine is an Inspire 3.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the different ways to change the parameters of active hours. I don't see this getting fixed soon (has been a bug forever now), and I had grown weary of uninstalling and reinstalling, etc.  🙂

To be fair, even doing it this way, it only works about one time in several.  I recklessly reset mine the other day when I got up late but still wanted that feeling of satisfaction of getting my 250 steps for every desired hour, and . . . now I can't set it back.  I'll try again -- maybe today will be my lucky day.  But why this can't be reliably fixed is so puzzling!

Haha! That is absolutely true. You had mentioned trying it a different way, but I didn't get it, and then I couldn't get any of the ways to work. Then LZeeW posted, so I tried again. And it worked, but it takes at least two times. And it is inconsistent. I laughed when I read what you wrote: "I recklessly reset my the other day when I got up late but still wanted that feeling of satisfaction...."   EXACTLY! Just too true. Hope they figure it out and fix it. It has been a long time to have that particular feature continue to be an issue.

Hi!

I have an Inspire 3. Following Gretchencita's and LZeeW's advice, I have found that I can change my hours by going to the power icon in the top left of my "Today" main page.  I click on the power icon, then I click on my Inspire 3. Then I scroll down to "Fitbit Reminders & Alerts."  I click on that and choose "Reminders to Move."  I then change the start and end times (I have never tried to change the days).  I choose the new time range, hit Back, AND when it does NOT work I do it again. IT ALWAYS TAKES TWO TRIES. (I don't know why.) When I go back (three back buttons) to my "Today" page, the new times don't show, but when I click on Hourly Activity, the new times are there (and they are changed on my FitBit), AND *later*, the times on my "Today" page do update to my new selected times.

It is a very convoluted process, but it works, and I have been able to change my time range whenever I need to. (I am retired and not consistent about when I get up in the morning).

Hope this helps. It is frustrating, and even if the above works for you, it only works if you do it and then re-do it. Why? I do not know.

Hi
Thank you very much, it worked. Yay!

I’m 64 and find going to local shop 2 miles away at 7am my morning routine.
Then 3 more in afternoon.

Appreciate your help

Wonderful!

Hopefully, they will fix it sometime. It is silly to have to go through all the hoops (and twice no less) to make a change.

Oh, well. Small inconvenience in the scheme of things.

Take care.
