I've previously been able to change the start date on a weight loss goal by going into Account > Nutrition and Body in the app, and tapping on the start date. But now when I do that it still allows me to choose a new date but there's no confirm button once I set it and if I tap anywhere else on the screen it creates a new goal from today's date.
I've done this before, and since the ability to enter a date (even though you can't confirm it) is still there it doesn't seem like this functionality has been purposefully taken away, it looks like it's just not working correctly.
I've also heard that there's some way to edit the start date from the website, but I've looked everywhere I can think of and I can't find it. Can anyone help me out with this? I just want to track my overall weight loss, not just a portion of it. It seems like this incredibly basic desire shouldn't be this hard to achieve.

This only allows me to set up the weight loss goal. It doesn't allow me to set the start date. I set a goal a while back and then when reviewing my goal today, it changed my start date, so now my Fitbit data doesn't reflect the amount I have lost. Very frustrating! I can't get it back to the date when I started losing weight.
Ok, this was very annoying, but I fixed it. This issue is caused by the Fitbit tracker over syncing the data "mine is a charge 2," and I'm also on an iPhone 11 pro.
Solution
1. Turn off Bluetooth and Wifi
2. open Fitbit app on your phone
3. Click your photo, top left, scroll down to the settings area, and click "Activity & Wellness."
4. click Nutrition & Weight
5. click and change the start date
6. click and change start weight.
7. Wait 30sec for save "nothing happens" just wait, trust me.
8. Click Back, Account, Back. You should be back on the home screen now.
9. Check your goal is correct
10. Turn Wifi on and wait one minute for it to sync to the cloud "again, nothing happens."
11. Turn Bluetooth back on and sync Fitbit.
12. DONE!
Thank you so much! This was driving me crazy. Finally a set of complete instructions that actually work!
Best AnswerThose let you change the weights but still not the dates.
Hi! I panicked when I couldn't keep my start date when i edited my goal today! Thankfully I found your post and was finally able to fix it 🙂 Had some trouble saving it - should really be a "save" button there.
Thank you for your help 🙂
Best AnswerThank you - worked for me
I can’t believe how difficult this was to find. How ridiculous! Anyway, I guess things got changed in the app and THIS IS HOW IT WORKS IN THE IOS APP as of Jan 2022.
1. Open the app and tap your profile photo at the top left
2. In the Settings section, tap “Activity & Wellness”
3. Tap “Nutrition & Weight”
4. Edit your Start Date and Start Weight as desired

Best AnswerI was wrong when I said it was working. I am able to set the it to a future date, but I cannot set it to a date in the past. So it's still broken. 😞
Best AnswerI’m sorry to hear that it’s not working. It’s still working for me after I changed mine a few days ago. I suspect there is a bug in the app cache that is preventing this field from updating. Do you see your weight history all the way back (prior to the current date)? I got my Fitbit after I started my journey so I added a manual entry for my starting weight on my start date. I set the date after. I’m not sure if this makes any difference, but something to try.
Best AnswerYes, I see my weight history going back to December 2018. I am also able to log weights prior to today.
In Activity & Wellness --> Nutrition & Weight, I can change "Your Goal", "Goal Weight", and "Starting Weight".
The only issue is with "Start Date". Today it is working differently than what I mentioned a few days ago. Today is 2/3/2022. I was able to change the date to yesterday, 2/2/2022. But I can't change it to 2/1, I can't change it to 2/4.
Subsequent testing revealed that I can set it to either 2/2 or 2/3, but nothing else.
Summary: I can choose either yesterday or today, and that's it. Not very useful at all...
