My new iPhone cannot download the Fitbit app from the AppStore. It looks like it is going to start, then nothing ever happens. This has been going on for too long and I read that it would be fixed by now... what am I missing?

This seems like a very odd situation, have you updated the OS on your phone lately? If so, I would like to suggest you to try to download the Fitbit app using cellular data. Once the download starts, enable WiFi in your phone so the download can continue using WiFi instead of cellular data. This will help jump-start the download.
