Can't setup Alta

This week we received an Alta (as a replacement for a defective Charge I got for christmas).

 

So far I've not been able to get past the "fitbit.com/setup" screen on the watch. On the phone (Iphone 6 completely up to date) the fitbit software tells me it has synced (last sync time etc) although it doesn't seem to pair when I go to setup, just hangs after putting in the four numbers.

 

I've deleted the app and re-installed, turned bluetooth off and on, reset the phone, reset the fitbit about 6 times so far, tried on a macbook pro with no luck, tried on a brand new MacPro with no luck.

 

If I can't get this one working then I'll not bother with anything by fitbit ever again, really shoddy. I wasted about 10 hours trying to set this up.
