I cannot accept a friend request, does anyone know why this is happening

Thanks for sharing this with me. To look into this, may I know if you get an error message when accepting the friend request? Has your friend already migrated to Google? Also, are you accepting in your Fitbit app or via email? Please note that both your friends and yourself need to have the same sign in option in order to accept requests.
That being said, let's try the following steps:
- Log out from the Fitbit app
- Check if the Fitbit app is updated
- Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone
- Open the Fitbit app and try accepting the friend request one more time
