Cannot change Google email address on Fitbit app

I need to change the email address associated with my Fitbit account as it is difficult for me to access my Gmail account.

Fitbit pointed me to some help which says that as I have an account that ends .com I cannot change it. No explanation is offered as to why. Google also say the same, you cannot change the email address, and also referred me back to Fitbit! The circle of lack of knowledge and assistance...

There is a backward workaround, but Fitbit do not appear to know about this simple step:

You can automatically forward all your Gmail emails to another account. You can set up automatic forwarding on your computer using the Gmail account you want to forward messages from. 

To set up automatic forwarding, you can:

1. Open Gmail on your computer
2. Click Settings in the top right
3. Click See all settings
4. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab
5. In the Forwarding section, click Add a forwarding address
6. Enter the email address you want to forward messages to
7. Click Next, then Proceed, then OK
8. Click the verification link in the verification message
9. Return to the Settings page in Gmail
10. Click Save Changes

You can also create filters in your Gmail account to forward only certain types of messages.

While this is odd, may I know if you've migrated your Fitbit account to Google? If that's correct, you'll need to update your email address in your Google account profile. Please note that you can only change the email address ending in a different domain than gmail.com, as the system won't allow it otherwise. For more information, click here.
