Cannot connect Fitbit flex to 5 GHz wireless wifi or Bluetooth

I have access to a 5 GHz network but I cannot get my Fitbit flex to sync or connect to it.
But it connects with the 2.4 GHz and syncs.
My iOS is up to date on my iPhone 6 Plus
Any ideas?

Fitbit devices don't use Wifi (Aria scale, yes).

Fitbit devices use Bluetooth to computers/smartphones, and computers/smartphones use Wifi.

 

can you access other sites when using 5Ghz wifi with your iPhone ?
