Cannot set calorie deficit goal

ANSWERED

I am trying to set up a calorie deficit but every time I do it reverts back to a number of calories.  I have restarted my Fitbit, deleted and reinstalled app multiple times, offloaded data.   I am

clicking on my profile in the app and going to food goal under nutrition and weight, setting a calorie deficit and confirming my choice. It will show goal as calorie deficit but as soon as I leave that screen it reverts back to a daily calorie goal.   I also don’t have the ability to set a goal weight, only body fat goal.   My phone is running most recent iOS so I think it may be an app problem.

I’ve just tried mine again and it’s still not working. I can put what calories I want to eat in a day but this is useless as my weight loss will also depend on how many calories I burn per day. My cals per day are 1100 but if I consume 1200 and burn 2400 it tells me I’ve over eaten and am in the red ! Even though I’ve got a deficit on 1200 ! I’m sure this problem has been going on for over 6 weeks now

Yeah it’s the exact same for me. When I’m on the screen to set the food goal/water goal etc, it also won’t let me create a goal weight.

incredibly frustrating 😞

just checked mine again, still not working

I’m now looking to ditch Fitbit , even though I’ve not had it that long, for one that offers the calorie deficit information. I know it sounds crazy but I’ve actually put on weight since this info went haywire , not a happy person 😖

Trackers aren't cheap and if yours is still working well, you might want to try another app that works with the Fitbit app.  MyFitnessPal does (and it's free with ads) as well as Cronometer (free with ads).  I switched to Cronometer when this clown show started and I like it so much I am doing the paid version.  It is able to share information with the Fitbit app.  I log exercise through Fitbit and use Cronometer for logging everything else.  And you can do calorie deficit with Cronometer.    For the particulars on linking the two apps, check with Perplexity (it isn't hard).  I did find I needed to tweak some settings to get Cronometer more consistent with Fitbit regarding calories burned, otherwise it was overly generous and I wasn't losing weight.  But it's work a look, at least until they get the Fitbit app working reliably again.

that information is so helpful, I can’t thank you enough

I’ve heard of MyfitnessPal but not of Cronometer. Am going to try cronometer now

I’ll let you know how I get on 👍

It’s 8th April and mine still won’t change from calorie goal to calorie deficit. I’ve tried everything recommended and still no joy!

Very strange; mine started working again about 2 weeks ago. Others have
reported same as you that it’s still not fixed

I don’t know what else to do but keep checking every day or so. I have
tried absolutely everything suggested and still no luck. I’ll just keep
trying I suppose 🤷🏻‍:female_sign:

same here, still not working but I’ve started using free Cronometer app to track cals deficit and it’s fantastic  I use it to enter my food and it works everything else out for me ‌👍‌ it also picks up exercise from my Fitbit, then amends your figures accordingly, plus it picks up other data as well. Give it a try

Glad it’s working for you, result 👍

Try the free app Cronometer to get calorie deficit, it’s brilliant . I’m using it until Fitbit calorie deficit is working again

I don’t know if this will work for anyone else, but I clicked on my profile photo in the app and selected the option to try the public preview feature. When I did that, I set my weight loss goal up there. Then I decided to go BACK to the regular Fitbit interface and was able to set my deficit goal and it’s now working properly!

Oh thank you! I’ll give that a go! 👍

It seems to have worked for me as well but will check again tomorrow to make sure

It’s going on the end of April and it still doesn’t appear to be fixed. I do prefer to see the deficit goal versus the calorie daily goal. I want to see if I burned more than I ate not if I stick to the plan of what I set for your calories goal for the day.

I don’t know anyone else, but I don’t see this working and I had also removed my inspire and put it on a new phone deleted the app then added the app and still can I get a deficit showing on the graph versus a daily caloric intake. If I’m doing something wrong, let me know, but in the meantime, it doesn’t appear to be fixed

Best Answer

Just to clarify I want the graph to show me if I am 500 cal different between what I consume and what I burn. Instead of showing me if I’m red or green against a calorie goal I set. I care about the difference between them, not if I hit my daily caloric goal

Best Answer

totally agree, there’s more incentive  seeing burned calories versus what you've eaten

I know exactly what you mean, this problem seems to be fixed for some and for the rest, still showing the red/green which is of no use. Hopefully Fitbit are trying to solve this

I tried that as well and it didn’t work.

The new public preview did not allow me to swap out what metrics I want to see on the front page. I want to see my caloric deficit between consumed and burned. It didn’t allow me to put any caloric information there at all. And I had to dig to find out where to put in my food log. So it is not user-friendly for all of the fancy graphics and the caloric goal is still broken by not allowing a goal set for deficit and seeing where you are in relation to the deficit goal that I set
