I'm a new user and here's what's going on.
When my fitbit charge 4 detects I am exercising it will track my HR along with steps etc..
When I "Start" exercise using the iOS app it will track everything except my HR
Yes HR tracking is activated.
Reading through Community posts I've seen that this problem has been around since at lesat 2019 and has been disregarded (not fixed) by FitBit Inc.
If I am mistaken, please let me know.
If I am not, please remedy the situation along with your reputation.
Your attention to this would be appreciated , but sadly not expected.
Regards,
Ken

Hello @webhog and welcome to the Help forum. When you start an exercise using the phone app, where the only choices are run/walk/hike, you are using a feature that was released before any device had an exercise app or had the ability to auto-recognize an activity. And yes, the heart rate disappeared some time in 2019. From what I read, this issue exists in the Android app, too. Your Charge 4 has an exercise app and can be set to use built in or phone GPS. It also has more choices than run, walk and hike. The last "adult" models that didn't have an exercise app were the Alta and Alta HR. Since Fitbit discontinued those models, I suspect that it made a decision not to fix the heart rate issue and focus on current model issues. Just the opinion of a fellow user. There are some users who like the phone app/GPS tracking because it has the voice cues.
Unless you absolutely need voice cues, you should be using the Exercise app on the Charge 4 device. It can give you vibration cues.
