Hi all,
ive been searching everywhere for a solution to this so thought I'd post a question and hoping someone can help me.
ive just bought my dad a Fitbit (charge2). He does not own a smartphone but does use an iPad at home on the wifi. The intention is for him to have the fitness / sleep etc syncing capability but not the phone call/msg capability.
When I download the fitbit app on the iPad, it doesn't give me the option to locate the new Fitbit device. It just tries to find existing accounts rather than allowing me to set up a new account for him.
any ideas? Is this a device that you actually can't use unless you have a smartphone? If so I'll need to seek a refund...
thanks for your help

Hello @Lokunia and welcome to the Community!, thanks for joining us. Thank you so much for your help @Kmransom123 and @USAF-Larry, it's great to see you around.
@Lokunia, when you open the Fitbit app on the iPad do you get the option Join Fitbit? This option will let you set up a new account. Once you select the tracker you want to set up, the app will ask information from the person who's going to wear the device, such as height, gender and weight. After that you will be asked for a name, email address and password. Once you check the box to accept the terms of service a new account will be created and the app will start setting up the device.
Another thing to mention is that you can also create a new account on the Fitbit website. Click on the Free account option to fill out the information and create an account which you can use to log in to the Fitbit app.
I hope this information can be helpful, keep me posted in case you have any other doubt or concern.

Thanks for your response. He has an iPad mini and yes it is compatible. Issue may be that he doesn't own a mobile phone. The app on the iPad (we downloaded the same app as you would via an iPhone) will not let us create a new account. It only lets us log in with an existing account.
any ideas?

Hi @MarcoGFitbit, wanted to say a quick thank you I was able to resolve the issue by going to the website and setting up the new account and then pairing it afterwards with the new fitbit.
Thanks again
