So the Fitbit dashboard app has no gear icon and shows that my Fitbit's battery is completely dead. It isn't. If I log onto Fitbit via the web, it says my Fitbit synced 55 seconds ago. What good is the app if it thinks my battery is dead?

The fitbit app (phone) doesn't has the gear icon.

If not already done, feel free to logout / in to the Fitbit App (phone).

A warm welcome to our new friend @Srw462! Thanks for stopping by! Smiley WinkI agree with @SunsetRunner's post, the Fitbit App doesn't have a gear icon. I'd suggest you restart your tracker and then force sync it with your iOS device by following these steps:

1. Open the Fitbit app from your iOS device. Sign into your account if you haven't done so already.
2. Tap your tracker name at the top of the app dashboard.
3. Make sure your tracker has battery life and bring it near to your iOS device.
4. Scroll down and tap the "Sync Now" tile and wait for the sync to complete.

Hope this helps, let me know how it goes! Woman Wink
