Can a Fitbit charge 2 be connected to phone and pad at same time

You can connect to multiple devices as long as you are not getting notifications from your iPhone.

This is the relevant part from a Help article (on a very different topic, so this little factoid can be hard to find): Setting up notifications creates a bond between your tracker and the device, and a tracker can only be bonded to one device. Note that you can always disable notifications on one device and set them up on another.

For several weeks I had both iPad and iPhone working AND was getting notification from iPhone. Then I turned off Bluetooth for a time on iPhone after which the iPad wouldn’t sync.  I’ve tried to reset (forget device and start again) and it will only pair with one device. I have turned off notifications on iPhone and it still won’t find the Charge 2 on my iPad. Help!

Hello @SunsetRunner, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for letting me know the troubleshooting steps you have already tried in order to resolve this issue. Please note that Fitbit trackers establish a Bluetooth link when you set up Notifications or All-day Sync in one device, that might prevent them from syncing with another mobile device.

At this moment I would like to suggest you to go to the Bluetooth settings on both your iPhone and iPad and check if your tracker is listed under paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device. Restart both mobile devices and open the Fitbit app to check if your tracker starts syncing, make sure to turn off Bluetooth in the device you will not be using to sync. In case you set up Notifications with one of the devices, make sure this device is not present or is off when syncing with the other one.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

I had already tried that and it doesn't work very well.  I got it working sort of - in that the phone works, but the iPad doesn't sync very often (initially it had all worked well and together).  I just don't have the time to fiddle with it.  Maybe when I do I can try again.

Best regards,

Hello @SunsetRunner, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have already tried the suggestions I've provided earlier. Adding to those and as your tracker is still having difficulties syncing I would like to recommend the following:

  • Make sure that when syncing with one device (iPhone or iPad) the other is turned off or at least the Bluetooth on the device is off.
  • Make sure you have a  strong WiFi signal.
  • Restart your iPhone/iPad if you haven't in a while
  • Force-quit the app on both devices by double-tapping the home button on them and swiping up the app.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted if there's anything else I can do for you, I'll be happy to help.
