Dashboard step counter

I am having issues with my step counter & the dashboard. On the daily dashboard & weekly it has my steps over 15,000. I joined a challenge and it says less than 2000. I noticed if I look at the steps the counter which is normally up to 1200 is now only up to 180???

I don' want to give you a different information, I'm assuming something, but I'd like to be sure about that so we can fix it sooner.
