Device is needed to track correct mileage

I found that my iPhone was not calculating the correct mileage I was walking. I finally figured out that pre-Google a device was not needed to track the correct mileage and other stats, as in the new app with Google. The new app has to sync with hardware in order to get all the correct stats, this includes mileage activity time, etc.

Hi @brucesharon - with the new V4 Fitbit App there are issues with staying connected with the watch and syncing which if not working properly will not give you the correct information in the Fitbit App.

The problems can include issues with GPS able devices.

Hi,

I have a zip. I found that pre-Google the syncing wasn’t as good as now, with Google maintaining the app.

However, in the new app, the iPhone app doesn’t work unless it is in close proximity to hardware. I never have to try to sync now. It automatically syncs.

I don’t have an experience with the watch. GPS is not an issue for me, However, I did see an app on the App Store which syncs Fitbit data to the Heath app. Not sure if this will improve syncing. I personally don’t like the health app in iOS.
