During a workout - flashing Screen Wake and Notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

HI, I've restarted my iphone, uninstall, reinstall Fitbit app.  It's now syncing.  However during my workout on a treadmill, it continually would pause -Flashing: Screen Wake and Notifications.  But now it's flashing lots of other things as well e.g. the time and steps symbol amongst other things. I've tried rebooting (numerous times) and charging.  Mine is 11 months old and in pristine condition- I'm open for suggestions on what I can do.

@CDevin Welcome to the Fitbit Community, thanks for checking us out. I moved this to its own thread to keep the notifications thread on topic. I've flagged this post for moderator assistance to see if there is something we can do.

Hi @CDevin. It's nice to see you here.  @KateFitbit, thanks for the heads up!

@CDevin, thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot your Fitbit and sharing detailed information about its behavior. You did a good job and let's work on this together. This shouldn't be happening and to look into this, please confirm the following:

  • The model of your Fitbit.
  • Did you follow the instructions described in this help article to reboot it?
  • Does this happen just when doing treadmill or with any workout from the exercise app?

I'll be around looking forward to your response.

HI LizzyFitbit,

This is @CDevin.

The model of my Fitbit is Charge 3. The Fitbit started acting up when I was working on the treadmill. It will continue to pause/stop even though I was still running. It continue to do this with the rest of my workout on weights. Over the day the screen kept turning on and flash the clock but then go to screen/wake notifications. So often the battery drained in 6 hours.

I was able to reboot the device and followed the instructions in your help article. I charged the device to full but still having problems. It won’t register to my touch on the screen, still randomly turn on and vibrate for screen/wake notifications screen (I have notifications turned off),

I will let it fully charge again today and do a hard system reboot and clear data to ensure it works. Please let me know any other ideas.

Thanks,

Hi @CDevin. Hope you're doing well.

Thanks for sharing more details and trying other steps on your own. It's odd that this is happening to your Charge 3 and before attempting the " Clear User Data" on your tracker, I'd recommend to perform a long restart with the following steps:

  1. Plug your device back into the charging cable and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  2. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  3. The device turns off.
  4. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  5. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  6. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Once this is done, remove treadmill from the exercise shortcuts and sync. Then add back treadmill to the exercise shortcuts, sync one more time and monitor its behavior.

Keep me posted.

HI @LizzyFitbit,

I did your recommendations and found that it no longer keeps track of my heart rate only time not just for the treadmill but for walking and weights. I had it on last night when I slept and it didn’t track my sleep. Same notification kept popping up screen awake multiple times that a fully charged battery dropped to 60% in less than 24 hours.

Let me know the next step.

Thank you, Corinne

Hi @CDevin. It's good to see you again and I'm sorry for the delay.

Thanks for troubleshooting your tracker with the steps posted above, as well for keeping me updated about its behavior. We can try some other steps to get the heart rate and sleep working correctly, however I'm concerned about the continues prompted which is affecting the battery life. For that reason, I went ahead to share your details to our Support team and apparently they already took your case under their wings. Please keep an eye on your inbox, you'll get some information about your case.

Hope to see you back on track soon!
