Editing an exercise (row machine) does not save distance.

Recently started using a Rowing Machine at the gym. When I go into the app and change the "Workout" to "Rowing Machine", and then edit the workout to enter the distance rowed (2000 meters in this case), the app won't save the distance.

It maintains the Rowing Machine workout, but the distance won't save and is stuck at 0.2km.

Hello @JeffInNC, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around. Smiley Happy

At this moment I would like to suggest you to update the Fitbit app as we have just updated it to the version 2.43.1. Then try to edit your exercise again. If the distance is still not saving please try the following:

  • Force-quit the app by double tapping the home button on your phone and swiping up the app. If this doesn't work:
  • Log out from the app, restart your phone and log back in.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else. Smiley Wink

I am also experiencing this issue, but with editing biking distance. My app is updated and have tried force closing the app and reopening. The only work around I have found is deleting the exercise and then manually adding it using the start and end time. I hope that is not the only solution since there is an option to edit.

Hello @Brizi, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have brought this to my attention. Tell me, which Fitbit device are you currently wearing? Did you track the Biking activity from the device or are you trying to categorize a Workout as Biking? Please note that if you track a Biking activity through your device using GPS, the distance will not be editable, as the GPS position will be the one who will calculate it. Also, if the tracker automatically detected a Biking activity using SmartTrack, the distance won't be editable as well. unless the activity has been tracked as a Workout.

I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I am still having this problem. I recorded a “workout” exercise on my inspire HR, now when I try to edit the activity in the app it won’t change the distance. I’ve tried logging out/in and re starting the app.

-How do I edit the distance successfully?

-How do I set the distance units to meters? 7255m is what I want to enter.

I have just switched from Garmin to Fitbit and you don’t have nearly as much flexibility to edit activities, is there something I’m missing?

I have the same issue.

Doing rowing on a machine. Adding it under exercise (2.8km) and although it is logged it is not being added to the daily exercise distance and time.

i have:

- closed the app (it didn’t help)

- logged out and back (it didn’t help)

- removed the app from the phone and installed again and logged again (it didn’t help)

I have the same problem .

I used the Workout feature on my Charge 4 to record my time on the rowing machine.

Then I used the workout feature again to record a stationary exercise bike immediately after.

After the exercise bike I could categorise the exercise as bike and change the distance to 4km

After the rowing machine I could categorise the exercise as rowing machine, but if I tried to change the distance to 5km it changed it back to 1.28km after pressing 'Done'

Charge 4 version is 48.20001.100.43

iPhone app is Fitbit 3.52.1 (1084)

Furthermore, I notice on the desktop dashboard that adding the exercise manually with the rowing machine category adds steps which then cannot be edited out. I wonder if the config for the category is wrongly setup?

Was this ever resolved. I’m having the same problem with my Inspire2. Really annoying as I can’t add Rowing Machine as a category so you have to log it as a workout and then change it.

Hi Marco i tried to set up rowing by using the option on my inspire 2 to undertake a run and then edit the category after the fact. This seemed to wotk bu wouldn't let me edit the distance.

So i then manually logged the exercise using the log option it allowed me to pick up the rowing machine selection but wouldn't allow time to include seconds only hours and whole minutes. The average heart rate ends up different and the zone minutes are also different yet they are in the same time zone less the seconds that i couldn't edit
