Finished a 3.01 mile run in 30:31 at a 10'08" pace with the GPS tracking and took a screen shot at the finish. Went to the Exercise screen to review my recent runs and the app showed the run I just made as being a 0.56 mile run in 30:31 at a 54'31" pace. Wtf? This is the second time this has happened. I'm going to delete and reinstall the app and see if it happens again tomorrow. This is the data for the run I finished.
This is the BS that the app is now showing in my exercise dash.

that is really odd. I can't say I have ever seen something like this happen. You are using the app to track it, correct?

Yeah this needs to be fixed. Fitbit app in foreground and background is having some issue with the data collection.
You can see here where I lost GPS using connected GPS. But I had the Strava app running too and it had no issue.

Hi, @Mtnbuckaru, you will find updates on this thread. The moderator posted on 28 February that the engineering team is aware of the issue and working on a fix.

I've also had the same issue occur. I have the Alta with iPhone 7 and track with the app. I'm unable to see when the problem first started because it has changed all my past workouts to have the same logging error of distance inaccuracy. Also, I still have the problem of the Fitbit over tracking as well. This walk was actually only about 4 miles (I track it on MapMyRun as well) and Fitbit always over counts the walk by usually 0.25 of a mile if not more.

the fitbit just uses the stride on your profile multiplied by the number of
steps taken to give the distance. It could be that your stride is varying
or that you have the incorrect stride length entered in

Hi, @mvan231, what you say could be true in some cases, but those who are finding that their splits are correct and mileage originally recorded is correct but changes when synced to iOS app are experiencing a known bug which is being worked on. See fhe thread I linked to above for more information.
