Update: 1/11/2018: Hi everyone, I receive confirmation that the Error 24/Error 8 issue is now resolved. Thanks very much for your reports and of course your patience. If you are still seeing this error message, please let me know.

Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts. We are currently investing reports of Surge users unable to set up their tracker on iOS, seeing: Error 24, followed by Error Domain Error 8.

At this time, the best workaround we see is having users set up on the Windows 10 app or an Android. They are then able to sync normally to an iOS device. I know that's not ideal and will continue to update this thread as I hear more. Thanks for your reports and patience.

I actually called customer service and the lady on the phone helped me do
it and it works just fine now! I’m really excited that it was so easy to
fix and only took 10 minutes.

Did you update your Surge tracker via IOS or Windows 10?

Same problem as everyone else. Domain error 8.  Have a iPhone 6s have deleted app, reset Fitbit surg 3 times. Tried my MacBook Air. No luck. I don’t have Access to Windows 10. Help please.

Did you get it fixed? I’ve been trying to get mine sorted for weeks and as it’s a replacement can’t get my money back either.

thanks

No, mine is still not working. I’ve tried everything too.

what they mean is ; download the fitbit software, from their website, install it on a windows 10 computer, run the app,and plug in your usb cord or bluetooth adapter to sync your Surge.

deleting the app, and fitbit from your phone and deleting it from bluetooth, then using windows 10 or apple ios app, this process did not work both using a fitbit app on windows 10 or Apple ios11 for me.

I called tech support as well, I was told its an issue they are working on.  I tried everything including trying it on a Windows PC and nothing works.  Told me it seems it was the last app update that screwed things up.  I have an incident number and they have no idea of an ETA on the fix.   Ugh.

From an earlier post this user quoted herself as having a Charge HR and from what I’ve read this unresolved issue is only affecting surges and the fixes for other models appear to work

I'm having  exactly the same problem as others on this forum with the search I was bought for Christmas. Previously I have had a charge HR which worked wonderfully well until it finally expired.  Having been in touch with for that support I have even tried setting up the device using a Windows 10 partition I have on my Mac but this didn't work either. I have also tried setting it up on  my iPad and iPhone. Others have suggested that Apple are trying to make it difficult but if that were the case fit but should not be selling the product

Personally, I don’t think it is an Apple issue and more Fitbit updated app issue. The reason for my thoughts on this is I (just before Christmas) received a replacement surge under the 2 year warranty due to battery not holding charge for more than 15 hours with non-heavy/exercise use! My old surge was updated to version 34.6.1 pre me receiving my replacement surge and pre me updating the Fitbit App.

The replacement surge I have came with version 26.52.8 on it and will not update due to the same error messages as other surge users leading me to believe that it is something to do with the updated app. Again, as other users I have no access to an android or windows 10!

Thanks Ranjeevah, yes that's correct, but using the USB cable doesn't work, you need to use the bluetooth adapter that came with the fitbit. There is no need to delete the app from your ios device as it will begin working again once the fitbit has been initially updated and synced with the windows app. I also turned my original fitbit off before starting, in case there was some confusion in the app knowing which device it should be communicating with.

I fully understand this is only a work-around to get users with Windows access back on the air, but I hope it helps some of you.

Nothing has worked. Customer service is sticking to their response of “you’ll just have to wait we are aware of the problem and working on it.”
They will not even offer the 50% discount on another product that was initially offered. This sucks

Add us to the list of bilked Fitbit customers.  Purchased a Surge for my son in September as a birthday gift.  From the get go, it never held a charge for more than 2 hours and was therefore unusable.  Contacted customer support when he was home from college on occasional weekends over the next few months (when we actually had the hours of time required to sit on the phone and deal with this BS) and they were never able to resolve the problem.  Fast forward to December when, after another failed attempt to fix the device via Customer Support, a replacement Surge, or 50% off another device, was offered.  We stupidly chose the replacement Surge (which took over a week to ship).  Now it, too, fails to work due to this error24, error 8 business.  I have spent HOURS on the phone with Fitbit with this device and am disgusted with this company.

Lesson learned - NEVER  buy another Fitbit product.  EVER.

Fitbit's final offer to compensate me for all of my lost $$, time, sanity = free Fitbit apparel with expedited shipping!!!  So I can advertise their company for free!

The nerve.

If Win 10 is like my Win 7, no dongle required.
