Fit Bit Alta no lonnger syncing

I was given a fitbit alta as a gift for Xmas 2016, I had set up the app on my ipad and set up the alta and it was working. I last wore it in July and it didn't sync at the time, I found the screen really temperamental to swipe and get info so ended up putting it away in a draw. New Year new fitness regime so I have fully charged and its working however it will not sync and cannot be found either by the ipad or desktop pc. I have managed to delete my alta on the desktop dashboard but when I have gone to add a device with it plugged into the USB point it cant find it.

I have deleted and reinstalled the app on my ipad and turned Bluetooth on and off and on and it cant find it either.

 

Any advice in the community? thanks in advance
