Fitbit Blaze does not connect to multiple Bluetooth decides simultaneously

Reading the setup instructions one is left with the impression that the Blaze can connect to multiple devices simultaneously.  IT DOES NOT.  It can only connect to one device at a time.  In order to connect to my iPad I must turn OFF my iPhone.  As for connecting to my iMac - I have to buy a dongle and that's no guarentee despite the assurance of the help desk associate.    Anyone thinking they can connect the Blaze to multiple devises simultaneously needs to know this.  The data collected thru syncing does present itself on multiple devices via the FITBIT DASHBOARD.  Sharing my setup findings so other aren't as exasperated by the setup process as I was/am

Hi there @AlanM43, welcome aboard to our Community and thank you for your feedback. Indeed, syncing with other device it may caused conflict during this process if there is another Bluetooth source where your tracker is synced. The reason of this is because your tracker has a Bluetooth "bond" with the mobile device you are syncing. This bond prevents the tracker from syncing with another mobile device or a computer at the same time.

Although, regardless of what device is syncing your information, this data is shared across different platforms while you are using the same Fitbit account.

As a workaround you can temporarily disable the bond by turning off the Bluetooth on your mobile device. You can turn it back on later to resume syncing.

Thank you again for your comments and hope to see you again.

About the bluetooth bonding the key here is Bluetooth.

With any Bluetooth connection therei is a client and a server. The phone and computer are servers the Fitbit tracker is a client. BlueTooth is setup so that a client may only talk to one server at a time. Think of a tellaphone, if your talking to person A, person B will only get a busy signal when trying to call you. This is the same with BT except there is no busy signal and person B(the computer) simply can not get a response at all.

There are a few things a user can do, and anyone of them will work

Move the phone at least 30-50 feet away from the computer

Temporarily turn the phones Bluetooth off

Go into the fitbit app on the phone and turn off notificationthis is what is keeping the two bonded.

As for syncing there normally is no reaaon to sync through multiple devices when both  are nearby,. When the two devices are seperated This is not a problem.

A sync only takes the data from the tracker and hands it over to fitbit.com, the phone app or the computer only get its info to display from fitbit.com, so it really does not matter how it syncs
