Fitbit Charge 5 not syncing with Wallet on latest iOS app

Installed latest Fitbit app on iPhone XS running iOS 17 on 12/17/2023. At same time the Charge 5 did a firmware update.  I added an Amex credit card to the wallet and everything looks good in the app but the Charge 5 cannot see it.  I get Add Card message when I tap Payments on the Charge 5. I have reset and wiped the data from the Charge 5 and reinstalled the app on the phone but the Charge 5 still does not see the credit card in the wallet on the app.  Fitbit pay worked fine with this Charge 5 using the Fitbit app on my old Samsung Edge 7 that I replaced with the iPhone on 12/17/2023.

Latest firmware update 12/21/2023 didn’t fix the problem.
