Thank you for sharing this with our Community and indeed there are a few apps that allow different app notifications on the Fitbit tracker, although this apps are not officially supported by Fitbit so it may stop working or not worked as is expected in some cases as is mentioned on the link you shared. Due to constant updates, with the Fitbit app and other features, it may stopped the functionality of this apps; so is worth to have this in mind.
Now with the new versions of Fitbit trackers, like the Charge 2, Blaze, Alta including the Flex 2; the list of supported apps has increased allowing to received more notifications as calendar reminders, calls and text notifications from other apps. (Depends on the mobile platform, iOS, Android or Windows phones)
