Fitbit app doesn't show elevation for walk

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi All,

I have noticed that on the IOS Fitbit app, the elevation is not shown on the exercise for walking. If you change it to any other exercise, it will show the elevation. It also shows the elevation on the Fitbit website when you are walking. Is it possible for the elevation to be shown on the walking exercise on the app? If so, how? Or will this require a app update?

Hi @Swainy10. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for sharing that your elevation doesn't appear for your walk activity. Let me explain that currently the elevation stat will be shown only in your fitbit.com dashboard and not in the Fitbit app. I understand how important is to keep your details synced correctly and I appreciate your feedback. I'd recommend to submit this idea in the Feature Suggestions board so other Community members can vote for it and add their votes. The more votes an idea receives, the better chance it has of getting the attention of the developers.

I agree with the above. If you set the exercise to run you get elevation shown on the app, so why is this not available for the walking option? Elevation is a big part of a walk (or run) routine so should be available.

Hi LizzyFitbit,

Thanks for looking into this. However, actually, I am not seeing the elevation data whether on the Fitbit App (Android Google Pixel 3a) or on my fitbit dashboard for walks. Instead I see two graphs, one for heart rate, and the other for calories burned. Arguably, if a person lives in a hilly or mountainous area, elevation is just as important as the calories burned.

Thanks!

Hi @Dwoods97, it's nice to see you here. @SanDiego4534 , welcome on board.

Thanks for joining this thread and sharing your insights about this situation. I was checking on my end and currently you'll see elevation for certain activities such as hiking or biking on the Fitbit app and also on your fitbit.com dashboard. This isn't yet possible when tracking a walk activity as your Fitbit device assumes you're just walking around without doing a significant activity that tracks elevation. My best suggestion is to choose hiking if you're going up a hill so you can track the elevation of your activity. If your Fitbit device uses the Exercise app, please see this help article for instructions about how to change the exercise shortcuts.

Hope this helps.

So in summary - to see elevation within the FitBit App while tracking a WALK you need to select HIKE.

Great - well done FitBit.
