Fitbit app icon shows red number

Hi ,

As a result of the Fitbit Ionic recall I took delivery of my Charge 4 yesterday . I have had a red number 91 on the right hand corner of the Fitbit icon on my IPhone & IPad for months now . I like to think I am an optimist so set about removing & reinstalling the Fitbit app on them both . I have also removed all my notifications - I would guess there were 91 of those but alas this had no effect . The 3 devices seem to be talking to each other but I suspect the meaning of life in my case is now 91 . Any ideas as to what progress Fitbit has made in resolving this conundrum?

Hi. I am not sure. I had the issue with my charge 3 that I was able to correct by clicking on red number in right hand corner and clearing all notifications. I now have a charge 5 and not having that issue….yet

Hi there, @Clare23322 and @PoppaJohn-55. Welcome to the forums, @Marnolla.

@Clare23322 and @Marnolla Thanks for sharing these details and the steps tried on your own. I understand how you're feeling about this situation and just to confirm, do you recall since when this started to happen? May I know the model and OS version of your phone?

I understand you've tried some steps, but please give a try to the following:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Check if the Fitbit app is updated.
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and log back into your account.
  5. Pull down on the screen to force a manual sync and let me know how it goes.

By the way, I've moved your posts to this new thread so we can keep the forums organized.

@Clare23322   @PoppaJohn-55  @Marnolla   That number you are seeing is called a badge icon.  It is an iOS issue and not a Fitbit issue.  Please try the following:

  • Open your iPhone settings
  • Scroll down to Notifications
  • Scroll down to Fitbit
  • Look in the ALERTS section and make sure that Badges is toggled to off

Some iPhone users have been experiencing this for months.  An iOS update turned badge notifications on.  Some users have had that number of notifications.  Some get a number, even though they cleared their notifications.
