Hi,
I just purchased a bracelet - Fitbit Charge 4 and I tried to set it up, but it does not work.
I tried to download the Fitbit app and it does not work. I have an iPhone 6 (my latest iOS is 12.5.3 and I cannot upgrade more than that) and, when I try to download the Fitbit app from the AppStore, it says that I should have iOS 13.4 or later.
Does anyone know how I could solve this?
Is there a way to get an older Fitbit app on my iPhone?
Thanks in advance,
ioan
Hi,
I just purchased a bracelet - Fitbit Charge 4 and I tried to set it up, but it does not work.
I tried on iPhone 6, but it does not work.
Now I am trying with Fitbit Connect
Again, some troubles for which I need help if someone knows.
Fitbit Connect is a desktop app, I have MacOS Big Sur 11.4. I downloaded Fitbit Connect and tried to pair Charge 4. But when I arrive to the list with devices, I do not see Charge 4. I tried Charge 2 or Charge HR instead of Charge 4, but it just does not work
It says I should turn on Bluetooth, but it is turned on and it works perfectly well with other devices.
Does anyone know how I could solve this?
Thanks in advance,
ioan

@tlcbox To be clear, I didn't read every post in this thread after my last post. But I'm sure the difference is that other users already have their device on their account and you tried to get the app for the first time after the OS requirements changed.

@LZeeW - quick update. FYI - you were right up until now.
Meaning - I set up my Charge 4 on a friend's phone and tried numerous times to sync it with my MacBook laptop, but it does not work 😞 (not even a tiny bit).
I have not yet got the dongle so I cannot confirm anything about that.

Hi everyone. Thanks for participating in the Community Forums. @LZeeW and @Walkman55 Thanks for your amazing help.
I've moved your posts to the iOS board to keep the forums organized. As you've noticed, the Fitbit app version 3.42 will be the last release for iOS 12 as for the new Fitbit app versions that include features and fixes, your phone must be running iOS 13 or higher. This is described in this help article and in this link. The Fitbit app will keep working on iOS devices with iOS 12 or lower, as long as the Fitbit app is not uninstalled.
@tlcbox Thanks for your efforts while working on this situation. As @LZeeW mentioned, the Charge 4 was optimized to work with iOS and Android mobile devices to ensure the performance of its features. While it's not possible to sync with a Mac computer using the Dongle, you can try borrowing a phone from a friend or relative so you can connect your tracker. Once you've synced, you can then see your data on your fitbit.com dashboard. I apologize for the information you've received from our Support team, your feedback won't be taken for granted and will be passed to the proper team. Please note some features such as Health Metrics data are only available on the Fitbit app for mobile devices.
Hope this helps.

@LizzyFitbit thanks for taking the time to respond.
Disturbing thing is - Charge 4 works perfectly well (I checked) with the app on a Windows 10, but not at all on a Mac OS X. That is somehow...

Quick update on this = I got the dongle and it does not work either 😞
So, Fibit Connect simply does not work with MAC OS X

Hi @tlcbox. It's good to see you again.
You're welcome and thanks to you for reviewing the information posted above. Even though your Charge 4 was able to sync with your Windows 10 app, please take in mind that it might not always work due to the compatibility requirements. I'm sorry the Dongle didn't work with your Mac and my best suggestion is to borrow a mobile device from a friend or relative so you can sync your details to your account. Once that is done, your details will be available in the Windows 10 app as well as your fitbit.com dashboard.
Thanks for your feedback and we'll continue working on our products, features and services to improve your experience with them.

Hi everyone, just wanted to give my feedback in case it might help someone. I just bought a Charge 4 for my son for his b-day. He has an Iphone 6 - so we ran into the same problem - can't download fitbit app and charge 4 for some reason does not work with windows 10 app either.
Turns out there is a bit of a workaround for the iphone 6 issue - if you have the fitbit app in your purchased apps then apple will allow you to download and install the last compatible version. So now the trick is just to get the fitbit app into your purchased items.
I got lucky - because i have the fitbit app myself and we use family sharing i could go into his phone and find the previously purchased items by family members and install it in that way. It worked perfectly with his charge 4 and he is very happy now 🙂
This probably means that you need to somehow log into a newer ios version with your name and install the fitbit, (otherwise if you have family sharing and someone in the family has ios that can take it you can go my route) and thereafter you should be able to install on your iphone 6 - not great - but at least it is something that can be workable.

Hi @GerhardJ22. It's good to see you here in the forums.
Thanks for sharing the steps you tried on your own, I'm sure other members experiencing similar issues will find your post very helpful. In regards to your son's Charge 4, please note this tracker was optimized to work with Android and iPhone devices to ensure its connectivity and the performance of its features. While it's not compatible with the Windows 10 app, I'm glad you got it working with his iPhone 6.
I'm sure your son is excited to use his new Fitbit device and so he can take full advantage of its features, please check the User Manual. You can always post again if you or your son have any other question.

I have the same issue than @tlcbox and I was not smart to check the forums before buying the Luxe.
Good news is I can return the watch cause I cant sync it using my Iphone 6 nor my Ipad mini 2 nor my Macbook.
I guess as you already mentioned, there may not be that many Iphone 6 users out there for Fitbit to make the older version available... For you it is different cause you were already had the app installed before they changed the requirements. I just wonder why wouldn't Fitbit make the older version available for all potential users with ''older'' Iphones.

@Leticiallc To the best of my knowledge, Apple has never offered older versions of an app to an older device, unless it is a previous purchase in that user's account. I could be wrong. The major reason for my post is to inform you that Apple no longer supports the iPhone 6 or the iPad mini 2. That means no more security updates.

Hi there, @Leticiallc. @LZeeW Thanks for sharing your insights.
@Leticiallc I'm glad that the retailer was able to help you out and thanks for the details provided. I understand your point of view about not being able to install the Fitbit app and get your Luxe connected. Please take in mind that the Fitbit app was optimized to work on different mobile devices based on the requirements of each model and their OS version. I appreciate your feedback and we'll keep working to improve our services, and make Fitbit more useful for you.
