Fitbit app keeps prompting to open another app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Help - everytime I try to open a challenge it instead opens another app on my phone. This only started happening when I updated to the new version. The newest update did not fix my issue. I tried going into manage 3rd party apps and removed privileges to the app it’s opening but it still opens it.

I call all customer service and they could not help me. If I delete the app from my phone does it delete my account?

Hi, did you work this out? My Fitbit app keeps opening the okok international app when I try to click on the tabs for more info on my sleep (eg). I don’t know how to unsync the two and it’s really frustrating.

Thanks

I’m having the same issue and on the okok app I haven’t select to connect to Fitbit, driving me mad! Anything I click on on Fitbit takes me to the okok app

I am unable to use the new dashboard for anything but syncing. Whenever I click anything, such as to view sleep, add water, or view challenge results, it opens a completely different app on my phone. Deleting and reinstalling Fitbit did not help.

I have the exact same issue since the app updated on 27 June.

Fitbit folks, this is a serious bug, repeatable & testable. Install the OK OK app on your own test systems and see.

I suspect this could be used to exploit the Fitbit app to gain access to my data, is it now passing my API access token to an external application?

Any hackers out there with a FitBit account want to test this out?

@onlysleepn Welcome! Thanks for being part of our Community!

Let me help you with your Fitbit app opening other apps and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. This is really odd. Have you noticed if it always open the same app when you click an specific dashboard item or was the last app you opened? Try logging out from the Fitbit app, restart your phone and log back in.

Let me know how it goes.

It is always the same app. OKOK·International. Both that and Fitbit have been on my phone for almost a year. The problem start immediately after I switched to new dashboard.

I tried deleting and installing Fitbit. The issue persisted.

At your request I logged out of Fitbit, turned off phone, turned phone back on, logged into Fitbit. Issue persisted. This also logged me out of OKOK·International.

I deleted OKOK·International and was able to use Fitbit as expected. After reinstalling OKOK·International, I tried Fitbit dashboard again. And once again, clicking on items in dashboard opens OKOK·International.

Please fix. I need to use both apps.

I installed the new update to the Fitbit app. It did not fix the issue. I’ve seen in other forums several other users have the same problem.

Today I downloaded the update to the FitBit app hoping that the bug fixes it mentioned would do the trick. Absolutely the same. Don't think the QA/testing team are up to the job here. Not the best way to keep a loyal following?

At this stage I’m not so sure that Fitbit even actually monitor this forum.

Fitbit reps, if you are paying attention, please post an update here to let us know that your developers are looking into this serious bug.

I understand that it may not be trivial to fix, but an indication that you are at least aware of the problem would be a start to placating your loyal customers.

It is simple to replicate the issue, I have previously posted details in this forum.

Hi @Suzy1313, welcome to the Community. It's nice to see you here.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, as well for the steps that you've tried. I'm sorry about this inconvenience, as well for the experience that you had with our Support Team. This sounds strange, and so I can investigate, may I know your phone's model and the iOS version? When you open the Fitbit app, do you see 3 options at the bottom? Also, let me know the name of the app that you're prompted to open.

About your inquiry, your account won't be deleted if the Fitbit app is removed. But before doing that, I'd recommend the following steps:

  1. Log out from the Fitbit app.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  3. Reboot your phone.
  4. Log back in and try opening a challenge.

Keep me posted! Smiley Wink

Hi!

I deleted the app and reinstalled it with the same issue. I deleted the app it keeps opening and reinstalled it. That seemed to work.

Thanks!

Hello!

I’ve had this same issue. It looks like other members have too, under another topic heading.

Back in June, I deleted both apps causing the issue and that seemed to work for a little while. Yesterday it started happening again. So that doesn’t seem to be a permanent solution. Any other suggestions?

Thank you, Jannine.

Hi @Suzy1313, welcome back. @Janninev225, it's nice to see a new face around.

@Suzy1313, thanks for keeping me updated, and sharing the steps that worked for you. You did a great job, and if anything happens feel free to let me know.

@Janninev225, thanks for joining the conversation. I'm sorry that you're having this situation, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. To further investigate, please confirm the following:

  • Name of the app that you're prompted to open.
  • Verify if the Fitbit app version is 3.0.
  • When you open the Fitbit app, do you see 3 options at the bottom?
  • Have you tried the steps suggested above?

I look forward to your reply.

I am having the same issue.  No matter what item I click on the dashboard it redirects me to another app.  I am unable to view any of my information beyond the main screen.  It just started today.  I tried to view my heart rate screen and it prompted me to open my ActiveFit app.  I declined several times, but it still would not let me view the page.  I finally accepted and now everything redirects to that app.  I tried everything you suggested on your initial post.  I did not however, delete and reinstall the apps.  I do have the 3.0 version with the new layout with 3 options at the bottom. I have an iPhone 6s.

I tried going under Manage Data -> Manage 3rd Part Apps, but it is not listed in this section.

I've seen several listings of people having the same issue, and they are all posted in the last few days.  I sincerely hope this can be fixed soon.  It's very frustrating.  I spent the last couple of hours trying to figure this out only to determine there is probably nothing I can do right now.  It needs to be fixed on Fitbit's end.
