for some reason when I updated the app, now whenever I open it, it just crashes and sends me back to the home screen. is this an issue with my phone or the app? what can I do to fix it?

@marvelcamryn Welcome to our Community! This is odd. The only thing I can think of in this specific scenario is for you to uninstall the app and reinstalling by downloading it from the Apple store.
