Fitbit drains phone battery

Hi!

I am a very Happy user of Fitbit and have been for a while. I used to have a first generation Fitbit charge he, and I have now changed to the Alta he two weeks ago. After I started using this device my iPhone battery drains super quickly! Out of nowhere it will suddenly say it has 5% back and sometimes shuts down before I can get to a charger. Getting my new Fitbit device is the only change to my phone. I have of course shut off all day sync and I usually sinc with the app twice a day - morning and evening.

What can I do? Do other people experience the same? It is really a problem with battery drainage!!

The fit bit app doesn't have to be open for Bluetooth to connect to your fitbit. This means "FitBit" wouldn't show up in the battery usage screen, so this is not an effective way of proving that the fitbit isn't draining the battery on your phone. i rarely have the app open, but i have all day sync on and my tex

I have an iPhone 6, and the battery drains really quickly. You can determine what is draining your battery, by going into Settings > Battery > and battery usage will be at the bottom. My Charge 2 doesn't even show up in the battery usage, which shows the percentage battery power each app uses (full disclaimer, my fitbit app did account for about 3% of my battery usage in the last week). However, at the TOP of my phone's Battery page is a notification that my iPhone battery may need to be serviced. So apparently my issue is an Apple issue, not a Fitbit one. Hope this helps!

t messages come through to my fitbit all day.

I have the same problem. Fitbit accounts for almost half of my iPhone battery usage. I’ve stopped All Day Sync and notifications but it’s still using 45-50% of my battery on a daily basis. I have an iPhone X and have never had battery issues until I added the Fitbit app.

I had the same issue with my old iPhone 6s.  I had a new battery installed and things were better for a couple of months, but soon got bad again, even though the battery was showing 100% health.  Finally dumped it in frustration and upgraded to an iPhone 8, and everything is fine.  I've turned off background app refresh completely (not app by app...just flipped the big switch at the top of the page that turns off everything).  I suspect that even with background refresh turned off for just the Fitbit app, it still sucks power when it shouldn't.  Turning the whole function off seems to address that.  Now when I check battery health, Fitbit is still up there (I do open it numerous times each day, I'm kind of a heavy fitbit user), but never more than about 18%, some days much less.

Hope this helps.

So I made sure my software on my iPhone and Fitbit were up to date. Turned of continuous sync and restarted my phone. After the restart I turned continuous sync back on. Problem solved. Don’t know if it was the Fitbit update or the IOS update that did it but now the battery usage for the Fitbit is in the range of 3-5%.

After updating my IOS on my iPhone X the battery drain stopped. Hope that’ll work for you too.

My Fitbit Inspire HR is using half of my iPhone 7 plus battery life. Just started this after 5 months of use?

I've experienced this with my Fitbit for the first time (across Versa and Charge) in the last two weeks. I found that the latest software update had enabled All Day Sync by default. I had already disabled Background App Refresh in the phone settings, but it seems that the in-app seeing of All Day Sync overrides that.

My battery usage is back to normal by disabling All Day Sync in the Fitbit app.

Fitbit Support didn't seem to be aware of the issue and kept giving me generic advice, whereas in my car it was an app update that changed the default setting.

Same thing happened to me.  I notice that all day sync had be reactivated for all my device (I have four trackers), so I turned it off for all of them.

Thanks, after a lot of searching I found the same thing. Turning off all day sync solved the problem.

Check your settings. I found that All Day Sync had been turned on after one of their updates. After turning it off my battery life is back to normal.
