Fitbit flex needs updated app

This afternoon, when I tried to sync my Fitbit Flex to my iPhone 8, I got the message “this version is no longer compatible with your Flex.Your device may not be able to connect with the app until you update.”  When I click on the update app button, it takes me to the app that is already installed.  Suggestions? I can’t get through to customer service.

Hi @Ghandalf54  have you updated your phone and the app? The Flex was retired a few years ago and the latest firmware for it is 7.8.8 and I'm not sure they will update that any further. Did you check to see what version of the app you have? Customer service may be having problems, did you see the banner at the top of the page?

Thanks for the reply. Magically an hour after my post, it started syncing again.
